Written Directions

From US-40/US-22 East of Cambridge, take Right onto Route 265 - Leatherwood Road - through Baileys Mills Ohio. Veer left and Follow 147 Leatherwood Pike through Barnesville Ohio. Take a right onto Route 800, Somerton Highway. Take Route 800 south for just about a mile or two you then you'll need to pick up Route 148 (Captina Highway) heading West (take a left) for 21.2 Miles to the end point of Powhatan Point at the Ohio River. Enjoy!

Scenery

This road winds beautifully through farming valleys and forests. The road is mostly shaded through the entire trip!

Drive Enjoyment

Wonderful winding road that has apparently been recently paved. It is a route for mining trucks so be wary of fast moving vehicles coming down steep hills.

Tourism Opportunities

Not very many towns on this route, so make sure you gas up before hitting Cambridge and getting on Rt-265.

I can't speak for the 265 part of this route, but 148 is a mainstay for us when we go to Wayne's Forest. I recommend it, but surely you want to do more when you reach the Ohio River? Lots of fun to choose from. Make your trip worth the while and visit other roads in the area.

Update from Ohio’s Road Ranger (July 30th, 2020): As of June 2020 this road, East of 800 anyway, is in good condition, for the most part. As usual, check www.OHGO.com for latest updates on the roads you ride in Ohio.
