Written Directions

About 45 miles north of Wickenburg, Arizona on Hwy. 93 you start your route by turning right (northeast) on Hwy 97. Then just stay on 97 as it heads northeast and comes to the end point at the only stop sign (now a left will take you to Bagdad and a right will take you on Route 96 to Kirkland, AZ)

Scenery

Rather lush hills of desert plants with many larger bushes/trees such as palo verde (the Arizona state tree) with its green bark. This is very hilly country of mostly old volcanic rock.

Drive Enjoyment

Lots of tar snakes, older pavement, but over 65 curves and an equal number of small hills. The curves vary in speed from 25 to 60 and scraping pegs is easy as many of the turns are open view turns and maximum speed is easy. There are a lot of mining trucks during the week, but they barrel along at a pretty good pace.

Tourism Opportunities

There are none, but 4 miles from the end of this run is the town of Bagdad which has food and gas.

Update: During summer 2020, all the bumps where the concrete abutted the asphalt have been smoothed out. The road is wonderful to ride--smooth as a baby's backside!
