Written Directions

This route is easy to find and follow. Just start in either Frenchtown or Chester and take County Road 513 (AKA Route 24) between them. Refer to the online map above.

Scenery

Take any point along this road for a trek through some of Jersey's best rolling terrain-rivers and streams cross at many points, rock outcroppings, pastures, horse country and various valleys adorn the route. A You can't go wrong at ANY point along 513 or what crosses it...go get lost!!

Drive Enjoyment

Dual lane, passing zones common, good twisties and straights. Road is crowned but not banked in most spots.

Tourism Opportunities

Not too many chains to grab a bite at but plenty of gas and local joints to get chow. It is Jersey, after all. The route also, it passes right by Voorhees State Park ... you may want to check that out as it includes picnic, two scenic overlooks, and trails.

This is a solid and fun ride. To get there from any point east (Millburn., Springfield, etc.) take the 78 to Clinton and go north or south, (avoid 24/510 via Morristown at all cost, traffic is bad there and signage truly awful--if your sense of direction is as bad as mine, you will find yourself in some really weird neighborhoods in Mo-town). Once you're on the 513, it's just a blast, lots of twisties, scenery great, road in good condition. In a slight variation of the route from Chester to Frenchtown described above, I took the 615 south from Pittstown, which has even less traffic. From 615 take a right on Route 12 and hook back into 513. Loved it.
