Written Directions

Route 160 starts in Cumberland KY. off Route 119. Note this is NOT Cumberland Gap which is several miles to the south. Once out of the small towns of Cumberland and Lynch Rt 160 twists and climbs to the highest point in KY, then twists and drops to Appalachia Va. ending at route 23. There isn't much in the area besides the this road. But it is worth getting to. If you like lean angles you'll love route 160.

Scenery

The scenery should be great but the lack of turn outs to see the views limit this to just OK. While riding there is no time to look around, you have to watch for the next turn.

Drive Enjoyment

It is because of this route's "motorcycle road quality" that I submitted it. Simply great twists up one side to the highest point in KY and down the other. More fun than the Dragon.

Tourism Opportunities

There is nothing here but the road.

This is one of my favorite rides, challenging road, beautiful scenery. The route goes through Lynch, KY which is a well preserved bit of Kentucky's coal heritage. Food and gas are readily available in Appalachia VA and Cumberland KY. Highly recommended.

One of my favorite rides..... Lamp House Coffee is a good place to stop in Lynch. Drinks/sandwiches... Or Wood Boogers in Norton for burgers and more.....
