Written Directions
Ride starts in Punta Gorda, FL. Travel north on Tamiami Trail (Hwy 41) and over the Peace River. Stay on Hwy 41 heading north into Murdoch, FL and get on FL-776 by taking a left. This will swing you south-southwest and through El Jobean, FL and then you'll have a nice view of the Myakka River as you travel over the bridge in El Jobean. Soon after you cross, at the intersection of 776 and FL-771 take a left on to FL-771 (Gasparilla Road) and eventually making your way south to Placida, FL. Now you want to turn on Boca Grande Causeway and your own your way to Boca Grande where you will cross the bridge and follow road to end of island. There are any places to pull off road for beach viewing.
Scenery
This route takes you to Boca Grande. A small artsy town with many restaurants, small shops and beaches. Light house has historical interest. There is a toll bridge which crosses the Gasparilla Sound. Views are beautiful, just be sure to keep an eye on the road.
Drive Enjoyment
This road has nice views of Gasparilla Sound, tree lined streets and lovely old southwest Florida homes. The ride is flat and uneventful until your cross the Boca Grande Island bridge. Bring money for the toll. Stop at South Beach Bar and Grille to have lunch on the beach.
Tourism Opportunities
Beautiful Gulf coast beaches, what more can be said. Light house has paved parking area where you can also access a public beach. There are several small covered picnic tables. Bring your swimsuit and lunch. There are also several very good restaurants offering beach or marina views.
Motorcycle Road Additional info
Toll Bridge - Boca Grande is a island so other than by boat, there are no other way to get there. Views from bridge are beautiful.
