Written Directions
This is a loop that can begin and end in any area. For me it starts in Montevallo heading out Hwy 25 towards Centreville. Turn right onto Bulldog Bend and follow to end. Turn left onto CR 24 (Cahaba River Drive) and follow through West Blocton. Crossing over Hwy 5 continue on CR 24 (turns into Vance Hwy) until you reach Hwy 11. If you turn to the left, the mercedes plant is approx 1 mile down on the right, turning right onto Hwy 11 continues with loop. Follow until you reach CR 12 (Grey Hill Road) and turn right onto CR 12.This will take you through Green Pond and into the Helena area as it turns into CR 13. When you reach the end of Hwy 13, turn right onto CR 52. This will lead you into Helena. Follow into Helena and this road will turn into CR 17. CR 17 will dead-end into CR 22, turn left then an immediate right on to CR-15. Follow CR 15 to Hwy 119 and turn right. Follow Hwy 119 through Montevallo back to Hwy 25 and the loop is complete.
Scenery
When I ride, I like a little bit of everything, long straight aways so I can stretch out and see what the bike can do, as well as some hills and swooping curves to see just how far she will lean over before her floorboards make contact. I like to see plenty of trees and rolling plains. Beautiful farms, small lakes, rivers, bridges and plenty of places to stop for refreshments on a hot day. This ride will get you all of this and more. With the likes of Brierfield Ironworks Park, Cahaba River Wildlife Management Park, Mercedes Plant, University of Montevallo and Old Town Helena as just a few of the places that you will be able to see or get to with minimal detour from this loop. I have ridden this loop many times and it keeps getting better every time I ride it.
Drive Enjoyment
Plenty of straight aways, and sweeping curves. For the most part the roads are in great shape. There are some areas that have had some patching done to them but nothing that will have you at the hospital getting a kidney replaced afterwards.
Tourism Opportunities
As mentioned before, Brierfield Ironworks Park, Cahaba River Wildlife Management Park, Mercedes Plant, University of Montevallo and Old Town Helena are just a few of the sites that are on this loop or are within a mile or so detour of the loop.
