Written Directions

Take Route 260 East from Cottonwood, through Camp Verde to Route 87.

Scenery

Start from High Desert in the Verde Valley and make your way into the cool pines. Some tight twisty climbing to gentle rolling sweepers through the trees.

Drive Enjoyment

Road quality is good. The climb out of the valley has some twisty sections. Once up top the rolling hills keep you entertained. Asphault is good with an occasional rough patch.

Tourism Opportunities

Once you leave Camp Vered there are no Amenities until you reach Clints Well to the north or Pasyon to the south. Just great views and vistas.

Motorcycle Road Additional info

This road connects you to Hwy 87 to Lake Mary Road back to Flagstaff, Winslow or down to Payson.

Nice road, scenery. Big sweeping turns, you can ride this stretch at a good clip safely. Watch for Elk tho in the early morning and evening, especially as you get close to Rt87, I have seen large herds in that area.

Concur with previous comment regarding it's best between CV and SR87. Good route for the hot months where you want to climb in elevation. SR260 all the way to Eager has great scenery, high speed sweepers, with pine trees galore. One of my favorite AZ routes.

This is my favorite driving route in AZ- so many curves, and a great variety that are enjoyable regardless of speed. If you head up from Payson en route to Cottonwood, the 5th-wheelers can bog you but you'll get to escape after the highway splits for Winslow. And as mentioned, watch for Elk dusk/dawn. Try to time it in the Fall on the way to 89A in Sedona for spectacular colors.
