Written Directions

You can go either direction by starting in Massies Mill or Steeles Tavern and taking VA-56 (Crabtree Falls Road).

Scenery

This is a fantastic rustic road through the Blue Ridge Mountains that follows Crabtree Creek. It crosses the Blue Ridge Parkway as well so this is a great way to start your adventure on the parkway either north or south.

Drive Enjoyment

The road is in great shape with the occasional blip here and there. Watch for fallen rocks and gravel. I saw some big rocks but no gravel.

Tourism Opportunities

There's not much along this small route but there are some tourist stops along the way. There are also waterfalls so you can stop and check those out.

Very curvey road, but no shoulder on the down hill side and frequent driveways directly on roadway. Road condition good.

We came off the Blue Ridge Parkway to get here. It was one curvy hilly road. The twisties were tight. The day use fee of the falls is worth it. Beautiful Virginia forested area.
