Written Directions

In Smyrna, head East on Sam Ridley, until you turn onto Jefferon Pike(266) follow this until it runs into 96, and continue until you hot 267

Scenery

This route follows a good set of roads thru the foothills in Tennessee. It's a great example of what you expect to see when riding on the back roads. A lot of hills, winding turns, good roads, nice friendly people, lead into a quaint little town, Watertown. The ride is not difficult, and there are a lot of places to gas up, say hi to the locals, and grab some grub

Drive Enjoyment

Roads were great, no potholes and a lot of relaxing areas that allow you to just smell the country. 266 has some great curvy areas rolling thru the foothills of middle Tennessee

Tourism Opportunities

The ride is quiet enjoyable, and I didn't look for to many places to stop. Watertown is a classic American small town with a town square, and a couple of restaurants that get great ratings on Google

Motorcycle Road Additional info

Wanna get away from the city, or the burbs, then this is a great ride. One thing I noticed is that people in the country are all so friendly, I talked to 3-4 people about everything. Some of the conversations they initiated, and some I initiated...made me miss living in the country where people always seem to be so friendly...don't be shy :)

Hey, I'm from this area and this route is why I joined the site. I am a former rider, current cage-driver. However, I look for the same things I always did when I cruise and I independently came up with this route for Sunday morning drives. I came here thinking that riders would have good routes for me to drive and saw this. Well, I knew I was in the right place as great minds think alike. This ride has well-maintained roads and good rural scenic views. There are some turns and fun little bumps, but overall, it is an easy one to take in. No real amenities on the way, but you end with some in Watertown and very close to Lebanon, which has plenty. I do this drive at least once a month to mentally prepare for the work week and would love to see some (more) riders out there. If you see the late model Orange Mustang, shoot me that low peace sign. I respect your freedom and I always look twice before I turn.

We gave it a try, but never found Hwy 96. The route needs better directions. Still, Watertown is quaint, and the ride there was scenic and country. There appear to be three restaurants. We had a very good lunch at the Mexican restaurant.

I've lived here in middle TN all my life, but never thought about rating places I like to ride until now. I've taken this route dozens of times. It's quiet, rural, well maintained, lightly patrolled, and never crowded. Take Hwy 265 to Hwy 231 to Hwy 266 on the way back. Make sure on the way back you save time to ride through Cedars of Lebanon State Park. It's pretty in the spring.
