Written Directions

Find the junction of TN 146 and Stones River Road near Woodbury, TN. Follow TN 146 N to a left on TN 83. Follow TN 83 to US 70 and take a left. Follow US 70 west approximately 3 miles to a right on to TN 96. Follow TN 96 north to a left on TN 264. Continue on TN 264 to merge junction with TN 53 and follow TN 53 junction with TN 25. Follow 25 into downtown Carthage to junction TN 263 on right.

Scenery

Bucolic hills and valleys yield to heavy woods with as you climb into the highlands around Center Hill Lake. The occasional valley vista of rolling farmlands or river canyon can be spotted through the trees as you lean into the curves.

Drive Enjoyment

The southern portion of the route is mostly sweepers and gentle curves with the occasional tight bend thrown in to keep you awake. Moving up TN 96 and 264, the curves become much tighter and more frequent. Combined with significant elevation changes, this makes for an exciting and challenging ride. The road surface is generally outstanding with only a few locations on TN 264 degraded.

Tourism Opportunities

You are in the country here most of the time until you get to Carthage. Aside from the standard service station and fast food chains, there isn't much. In Carthage, try the El Ray restaurant.
