Written Directions

Start in Gold Hill. Follow Hwy 234 towards Sams Valley. Continue on 234 until it intersects with Hwy 62. Turn left and follow Hwy 62 north towards Crater Lake. Stay on 62 until you reach the town of Trail. At Trail take the Tiller/Canyonville cutoff (Rt 227). Follow this road 50 miles to Canyonville. Be aware that it does go over a winter snow zone and can be closed for periods during the snow season.

Scenery

Scenery is excellent. Most of it is either tall tree lined hills or meandering open space.

Drive Enjoyment

The road quality is good for the most part. Be aware of possible road repairs as you head over the steepest part of the route. From Gold Hill to Trail the drive is more tame. After Trail and heading into Canynoville the road is much more challenging with a lot of turns and elevation changes. There is also one hair pin turn section so watch for it.

Tourism Opportunities

Acceptable amentities in each small town you go through ... enough choice of food and gas.
