Written Directions

Start your route in Westfir, OR. From there you will want to get on FR-19 (Forest Road 19) and head north. This beautiful road will go for about 65 miles till it runs into Route 126 and ends (near a town called Blue River, OR).

Scenery

Lots of old growth Douglas firs, beautiful rivers and amazing vistas. You'll pass through mountains and the Willamette National Forest and pass by Cougar Dam.

Drive Enjoyment

There are lots of twists and great turns, great for cruisers or sport bikes. On the Oakridge side of things there are a few 12 feet wide spots of gravel. But I'm not sure if those are gone now.

Tourism Opportunities

There are hotels and restaurants in Oakridge, along forest road 19 there are many camping and hiking opportunities as well as swimming.

This is a great ride. I have had the pleasure many times.
Lots of tree covered parts be careful for wet conditions.
If I remember the MPH is 35 ,watch for unmarked smokies .( personal experience) a few tight hair pins and not well marked.
Great ride with a nude hot spring for a dip (Terwilliger)

Very nice ride. I took this ride August 18,2009 went with wife and another couple, weather was perfect lots of spots to pull off and take pictures. watch out for a few unmarked bumps, only one section of gravel about 50feet in length on the cougar dam side other than that nice pavement.

This is a great ride, but you must be careful. I took this ride the middle of April 2009 and hit snow after 26 miles. There is no cell phone coverage. Many places in the road where trees and other debris reduced the travel to one lane or less. Slippery moss and leaves are on all of the shaded corners - which is most of them. I'll try this route again soon and post another update. Jeff
