Written Directions

This route starts in Akron, and ends in Akron, but only about the last 5 miles is repeat. From South Akron, take route 93 south to route 241 S, all the way to Millersburg (Gas, if needed). Head south out of Millersburg on S. Washington St. and take this south to Co Route 58 to and through Saltillo, OH. Continue on route 58 and then take a left on to route 19 (now you'll be heading northeast). Take route 19 NE and then get on Township route 156 and take this into Charm, OH. Take a left on to Township road 369 heading north. Take a right on State Route 39 (head east) to Walnut Creek, OH. Now take 515 north into Winesburg, OH. Now take US Highway 62 N to Wilmot. Continue on US 62 past Wilmot and then get on 93 north, where you can take this all the way back to where you started making this a full loop.

Scenery

This route takes you through some rolling hills, with several overlooking vistas, and through the heart of Amish country, with stops in Charm, Walnut Creek, and Wilmot where a variety of crafts, and restaurants are available. Best to ride during the week to avoid the largest crowds in the towns, but is also enjoyable on a Saturday. Sunday, almost everything is closed.

Drive Enjoyment

Mostly very good road, some hills and turns are to be expected on the township roads. Some straight-aways on the state routes.

Tourism Opportunities

The Amish towns have cheese factories, furniture and craft shops, candle shops, quilt and knickknack shops, as well as some of the very finest Amish restaurants, with down home style cooking. This was a very enjoyable ride with minimal traffic (watch out for horse and buggies in Amish country). It could easily take all day, if you plan to stop in the towns and do some shopping.

When riding in Amish country you have too slow down. There are different hazards on these roads. 1. Road Apples! ( better known as horse exhaust ) 2. Buggy Ruts! These are ruts in the pavement from Horse shoes cutting into the asphalt. 3. Slow moving Buggies. Watch out for them when going over hill tops and blind turns. GREAT FOOD!! BEAUTIFUL FARMS!! Take your time and enjoy it.

A nice ride. As previous poster said, slow down. LOTS of buggy's and LOTS of horse poo on the road. Road conditions ranged from good to just ok. Gravel in a few turns along the way. Roads not marked real well marked in a few places. Signs were small at times and one sign was nailed to a tree. This is more of a scenic rural ride as opposed to a run thru the twisty's.
