Written Directions
The route begins in New Melle, MO, at the intersection of Hwy D and Hwy F (Mill St.). Head south on Hwy F, and continue for 10.3 miles to the intersection with MO-94, just north of Defiance.
Scenery
The route starts through deep woods south of New Melle, before dropping into the Femme Osage Creek valley. There's a nice view of the valley about the 2 1/2 mile mark, just past the New Melle Stone quarry. The route then hugs the bluff of the creek valley for the remainder of the route, passing by farm fields and homes, with the wooded bluff on one side and the creek valley flats and tree lined creek on the other.
Drive Enjoyment
The route is curvy without being too technically challenging, with gentle elevation changes throughout the route. The road is well maintained rolled asphalt.
Tourism Opportunities
New Melle is home to Liz's Bar and Grill and the New Melle Baking Company. Defiance hosts the Defiance Ridge Vineyards, Good News Brewing Company, Circle 6 Restaurant, the Defiance Roadhouse, and Stone Ledge Distillery. The Historic Daniel Boone Home and the Old Peace Chapel are located at about the 5 mile mark in Lindenwood Park.
