Written Directions

Start out at the intersection of I-12 and LA 1088 Near Mandeville. Head NEast towards LA 36. Turn right(E) on 36 and stay straight until you reach LA 41. Turn left(N)on 41 and continue for about 8 miles until you reach LA 435 near Talisheek. Turn Left(W) on 435 and enjoy the small hills and sweeping turns.Continue on 435 and head toward Abita Springs. At the traffic circle take the LA 36 exit and head back towards LA 1088. Turn right(S) on 1088 to where you began near the interstate.

Scenery

This trip will take you through some nice sweeping turns and mild elevations. LA 435 passes near the rear exit of Money Hill and there are lots of trees in places along the route. Depending on the time of day, some shade is provided by overhanging trees in certain spots. Mossy oaks can be spotted intermittently too.

Drive Enjoyment

The road condition is really nice and has a combination of flat, straight, hilly, and curves as well.Watch out for the sporadic roadkill though.

Tourism Opportunities

Along this route is several small country stores and a few fuel stations. Abita Springs has the most activity and there are several little cafe's to try as well. Mama D's pizza. It is a small "hole in the wall" with great sandwiches and darn good pizza. There is a pavilion next to the Abita Brew Pub with a nice courtyard next to it. There are activities held there on many weekends including musicians and a farmers market.

This is a nice loop. If you want to extend your ride, head up to Bush, then take Hwy 40 west to Folsom. Hwy 40 has a lot of hills and sweeping turns. Folsom has plenty food and gas. All Jason's Cycles if you need service. PEACE

I decided to run this loop because it is very close to where I live, and I’m really glad I didn’t go out of my way to ride it. Although the scenery is okay, the roads are flat and straight mostly. If you have any desire to lean your bike, this isn’t the ride. If you have a cruiser and you like to go in a straight line and take in the scenery, you might like this.

Real nice roads, low traffic, just outside the city so it’s easy to get to. A few turns and hills, but mostly real nice scenery. Both sides of the road are filled w trees so nice shade in lots of places. Stop in Abita Springs for a for a break and a drink.
