Written Directions
Route can start at either end, we'll do it from Fort St. Clair State Park, Eaton, Ohio. As you leave park turn left… go to stop sign and turn right onto OH-122/W. Main St. After flashing light at US-35/OH-122 intersection, cross bridge and take immediate right onto Water St. Travel Water street for 1,000' to stop sign, turn right onto S. Beech St, Roberts Covered Bridge is a few hundred feet on your right, at stop sign pass bridge, turn right and cross St. Clair Street metal truss bridge, ride 1,000' to stop sign, turn right onto OH-732/Hillcrest Dr... ride 732 for 5.4 miles, turn left onto Sugar Valley Drive (Sugar Valley Methodist Church at intersection). Take Sugar Valley Drive 5.8 miles, at stop sign turn left onto OH-725, then immediate right at traffic light on to US-127 south . In a mile, turn right onto Camden-College Corner Rd, ride 7 miles to Hueston Woods Covered Bridge.
Scenery
Route starts off in with a mile ride thru the shade and canopy of Fort St. Clair State Park. Travel past Crystal Lake on Water St., Roberts Bridge on S Beech St and across metal truss St. Clair Bridge, then enjoy a ride thru rural farmland to the beautiful Hueston Woods Bridge.
Drive Enjoyment
The roads along this route are in pretty good shape. Curvy and hilly in many spots, 732 has several curves around Lake Lakengren (private lake community), watch out for loose gravel on the first sharp right turn (20 mph sign before), after that it's pretty good. Traffic on 732 can get a little congested for rural area, but once you past Lakengren there is hardly any traffic. Nice ride for this part of Ohio.
Tourism Opportunities
Fort St Clair was built in 1791 to protect the area’s early pioneers against the threat of Indian raids. It served as an important garrison and supply depot. The fort was abandoned in 1796 after the end of the Northwest Territory Indian War and the subsequent Treaty of Greenville. Be sure to check out the mini, walk -thru covered bridge in the playground area. https://www.ohioexploration.com/miscellaneous/fortsaintclair/ Roberts Bridge is Ohio's oldest covered bridge, 2nd oldest covered bridge in the U.S. and the oldest of the six remaining "double-barreled" covered bridges in the United States. Can't ride across bridge, but can pull in front for pic. Ride across St. Clair Bridge, a metal truss bridge built in 1887. Hueston Woods Covered Bridge built in 2012, this single span, modified Burr Arch, timber-covered structure spanning 108 feet is awesome and a must see! A six-foot covered walkway is located on each side of the bridge for pedestrian traffic, along with a scenic viewing area of Four Mile Creek. Back entrance to Hueston Woods State Park is just a few hundred feet from bridge, take in a ride around the park.

Hueston Woods Bridge is not a double barrel, however it carries two way traffic. There are several other covered bridges in fairly close proximity, Preble County boast 8, all but 2 are used daily. Christman Bridge is northwest of Eaton, Harshman Bridge just a few miles off 732 past Sugar Valley on Concord-Fairhaven Rd., and Black Bridge (Butler County) is 4 miles south of the main entrance of Hueston Woods State Park off 732. Brubaker bridge sits outside of Gratis, Geeting, Warnke and Dixon bridges north of I-70 between US-127 and Lewisburg. You can ride thru all but Black and Dixon. Jasper aka Mud Lick and Germantown Bridges (Montgomery County) are off a little to the east in Germantown, Ohio, cannot ride thru either of those. Also Germantown Metro Park (listed on McR) is close by. Several good country roads to explore in the area. Picnic tables at Fort St. Clair, and are at both sides of Hueston Woods Bridge. Also picnic areas in Hueston Woods State Park, along with a Beach, Marina and Lodge. Many places to eat in downtown Eaton and on the north side. In Camden... there is Powerhouse Pizza & Subs and Depot Dairy Bar & Restaurant. Rest rooms at Fort St. Clair, no facilities at Hueston Woods Bridge, but some in the park. Gas not a problem, stops in Eaton, Camden and Oxford, however if your low fill I suggest filling up before you leave Camden. This area is known in the biker community, several covered bridge memorial rides tour these parts every year.
