Written Directions

Start where Hwy 174 branches off Highway 17 about 24 miles southeast out of Brewster, Washington. It continues 21 miles into the town of Grand Coulee and the famous Grand Coulee Dam, then another 21 miles through farming country and dry high desert plateaus and coulees into Wilbur Washington where the route ends but you can take Highway 2 into Spokane Washington.

Scenery

Rolling treeless hills and prairie. Dry high desert plateaus and farming communities. Excellent viewpoint of Grand Coulee Dam at the Crown Point Overlook.

Drive Enjoyment

Good to excellent paved two lane highway, with long straight stretches and easy turns, twists and long sweeps. Good bike riding road. Not too much traffic.

Tourism Opportunities

Full services in Grand Coulee and Wilbur. The town of Grand Coulee is a great overnight destination, and a convenient stop for gassing up and having a meal. Otherwise, you'll be mostly be riding through long open stretches with no facilities.

Lots of long open straights, interspersed with a few windy canyons. Some spectacular views over Grand Coulee and Chief Joseph dams, Lake Roosevelt, and more.
No trip to Wilbur is complete without a stop at the Billy Burger.

Wide open riding and usually quite hot in the Summer. As mentioned, the dams are the highlight.
