IN 71 - Dana to Newport Power Plant

Written Directions

From Dana, IN, pick up IN 71 heading north and follow it all the way till it intersects IN 36 near Newport, IN.

Scenery

TUrn left off of US 36 if coming from IL. onto IN 71 and go thru Dana. After Dana the road is straight and begins to curve down into a valley crossing a river and back up again passing a cemetery and comes out to the Newport Power Plant in the near distance across IN 63. Several small farms are back in there.

Drive Enjoyment

Road is straight at first then has open sweeping curves and is somewhat hilly. Very nice in the fall when the leaves are changing. There is one hard left next to the cemetary.

Tourism Opportunities

At Dana there is an amazing candy shop that is open only on the weekend. There is nothing else on this highway. When you come out on 63 turn left and look for Cayuga, they have a gas station. Burger King is in there plus they fried chicken and coffee.

Off 71 just north of Dana to the left look for the round barn the road is easily found back to the barn and is a graet photo-op.
