Written Directions

From California 128 a half mile east of Boonville, take California 253 to Ukiah and US 101.

Scenery

The road goes over a ridge of California coastal hills. There are (dirt!) turnouts for stopping to enjoy long views to the east and south.

Drive Enjoyment

California is using federal Stimulus money to completely repave the state highways, but parts of this road are older asphalt. There will be patches here and there. But mostly there are long sweeping corners and slow peg-scrapers. There will be scattered traffic. The road is mostly double-yellow no-passing zones. On weekends there might be traffic enforcement.

Tourism Opportunities

Good amenities at each end but nothing in between. Hey, it's only 18 miles!

Yes, as another rider pointed out the road was just repaved, as of 2018. they did a great job. I love this road, great twisties. Its not TERRIBLY long though. Also my big critique is that it is a steep grade. I prefer to go from Ukiah to Boonville, its all uphill that way, If you are new and go the other direction it could be a little nerve racking.
