Written Directions

Starting in Myerstown, Pa. on route 501 south go south to Scheafferstown then take route 897 south to route 30 at Gap, Pa. Then take route 30 east for a very short distance to route 772 and go north to route 501 north to Myerstown, Pa.

Scenery

First 50 miles goes through mountains, small country towns. Last 50 miles goes through Amish Country with beautiful farmland settings in the heart of Amish country. Passes through true Amish country towns like Intercourse, Blue Ball, Kinzers (has steam engine museum), Bareville, White Horse and more. Good local Amish (Pa. Dutch cooking stops) and ice cream stops. Tourist shops in Intercourse. Excellent ride to enjoy the scenery with lots of sweeping turns, hills and valleys. Also goes through Middle Creek wildlife sanctuary for animal lovers.

Drive Enjoyment

Road quality is very good the first 50 miles and good the 2nd 50 miles. Need to watch for horse droppings and the occasional horseshoe nail.

Tourism Opportunities

Lots of small country towns with excellent food, plenty of gas, motels and bed and breakfasts in the area.

Very nice ride. Going clockwise from Rt41 the first half is very relaxing and nice scenary. The second half is through Amish farm which is beautiful, but there are some pretty hairy turns (especially on a crusier). You can go from 50mph sweepers to 10-15 mph right angles and switchbacks. Lot of options of places to stop or get gas.

Pretty fun ride through Amish country. Lots of little shops and stores to visit. The Pretzel store in Lititz is very cool. Also the Speckled Hen in Strasburg is a must sop for coffee and breakfast
