Written Directions
This route starts where I-40E and Old Hickory Road intersect (I-20 exit 221). Start there on Old Hickory Road and take it as it goes northwest, then turns west, and later starts to head southwest. Somewhere along the way Old Hickory Road turns into Old Hickory Boulevard. Overall it makes a half circle outside of the north part of Nashville. You can start at the other end of the route. However, I prefer the East to West path. Especially in the evening before the sunset.
Scenery
This route is a mix of urban, suburban and rural scenery. At the end it feels like you've traveled to a remote location. Still, youre never more than about 15 minutes from downtown Nashville.
Drive Enjoyment
Nice easy curves in some sections. Some in town traffic depending on the day time. Mix of worn suburban black top and fairly fresh asphalt in the rural areas.
Tourism Opportunities
There's a wonderful stop in White's Creek. A place called Richard. Good cajun food and live music. Open in the evenings Wed-Fri, at noon on Sat and for Brunch on Sun. Otherwise, there are various convenience stores and the like along the way. It ends right where Hwy 12 Motorsports is located.
Motorcycle Road Additional info
If you prefer to avoid traffic, this route is not for you. I like the variety in this ride. Feels like I'm on a cross-country journey.
