Written Directions

About 60 miles southeast of Columbus, you'll find Burr Oak State Park (near Glouster Ohio). Start at Burr Oak State Park and take Rt 78-NE to McConnelsville. From there take Rt-60 southeast to Marietta. In Marietta, pick-up Rt-550 west to Athens. In Athens, get on Rt-13 north and take this back to Burr Oak State Park.

Scenery

Great southern Ohio route with scenery that ranges from dairy farms, rolling hills, river crossings, and dense forests. A Fall run would be incredible!!! Great stops in historic small towns with much history and very well kept. Midway point is Marietta - incredibly scenic town along the Ohio River (perfect lunch stop).

Drive Enjoyment

Road quality is excellent - much of the roads have been recently re-surfaced. Lots of rolling hills with gradual twists and turns. Mostly state routes - not much traffic during weekdays. Be careful, some of the twists and turns come over the hilltop peaks with some blind spots - great for kick-starting the ole pumper.

Tourism Opportunities

Very good roadside amenities. Many nice towns - will take you back to an era gone by. Enough small roadside rest stops to tap the kidney and loosen the legs (as well as take pictures). Most likely, you'll meet other bikers on the way.

This ride was good, but the name of it is misleading. I was expecting to ride through some forest area but we didn't. Plenty of small towns and amenities (gas, food). Roads were in good shape and little to no gravel and well marked. Good ride with the wife or a group.

I live in Marietta and my in laws live in Glouster. I take this ride 15 to 20 times every year and its way underappreciated. Perfect 3 to 6 hour ride (whatever you want) and many places to branch off of to extend your ride if you want.

If we're picking nits here, this isn't actually a Wayne's Forest run. There's 3 Wayne's Forests and this isn't in any of the them. The closest you get here is 'Amesville' So, with the Wayne's Forest part thrown out, it's still a solid ride. Certainly a fair share of twisties. Nothing too nuts, 60's kinda lazy, but 78 between Ringgold and Glouster makes up for it. Solid ride with no 'forest.' :P

This was an awsome ride, I would say just the perfect amount of curves to keep your attention yet you can still relax and enjoy the scenary at the same time. I highly recommend this ride.
