Written Directions
Starting on Rte 36 just east of Mount Vernon, head east toward Warsaw. At the first intersection (maybe the only intersection) in Warsaw, turn right and you driver down a brilliant segment of Rte 60 through the Woodbury Wildlife Area. Its only 7 miles long but newly paved and really great road/scenery. At 541, turn right (west) and you'll enjoy a really great stretch of that road. Turn right again on 62 in Martinsburg and head north until you can pick up 229 which will take you back to Mt. Vernon.
Scenery
The stretch of 36 is the best that road has. When you're on 60 for that short stretch, you'll want to turn around and take it again (I've done that myself). And what you see of 541 is just amazing. You'll see strip mines, hills, trees, lots of twisties, elevation changes... the list goes on. Enjoy!
Drive Enjoyment
36 is perfect, 60 is perfect (maybe a little gravel at one small intersection-- you'll see it. 541 is the reason for the bump down-- it's a good road with a 'weathered' surface.
Tourism Opportunities
Mt. Vernon has everything. There is a gas station in Warsaw, another in Martinsburg, but for the most part, it's pretty rural. If you want social time, Mt. Vernon is the place to be. That city has everything except an IKEA (they do have a Rolls Royce building there!)
