A friend and I rode to Leakey from Houston on a Friday via multiple backroads so it was an eight hour trip. We cheked into a small cabin area called Cypress Frio Waters and went into Leakey for dinner and then went and got some sleep. On the second day we had breakfast, Rode the Three Sisters, counter-clockwise, had lunch and again rode the Three Sisters, clockwise, and called it a day. On the third day we returend to Houston. What a RIDE. The trip was just over 1016 miles with Great weather. It's now going to be a Bi-Annual event in my book. If you have a bike you really need to take this ride.

Excellent ride. My girlfriend and I rode 337 and 336 while in the area for Octoberfest 2010. We only had time for two legs of the run, but are already planning an April 2011 trip back to stay in Leakey and run the full route. This route is not for the beginner. Get familiar with your equipment, be safe, and ya, watch out for the cows...

Did the 3 Sisters once, a year & a half ago, and that just wasn't enough. I gotta go do 'em again soon. My favorite part was when one of four Motards tried to pass us; that's when they discovered that a bike is only as fast as its rider. The rest stop at Frio Canyon was alright too.

I've lived in Texas for 2 years now and done this ride 5 times. One of the best runs I've ever encountered and I never get tired of it.

Danny and I rode the 3 sisters for his 65th birthday today, Memorial Day!!! It was gorgeous and fun!! Fuel up in Leaky, on 41 just east of RR336, or possibly in CampWood. My new Harley Softail Classic with its stage 1 performance upgrade was a wonder. I have been riding for 2 years and rode the sisters hard today. I advise you to carry lots of water if you ride during our hot season.

I was introduced to the "Three Twisted Sisters" by my Goldwing Club in 1995. Have ridden them every year since. My favorite is the roller coaster section of 335 heading from south to north. Also better views of the river and the canyon when going north. Great road, great views and Spring is the time to go when the wildflowers are out. Will be taking a group up there in April for our annual visit. When you're done riding the Sisters and you want to unwind, head south of Leakey and take 1050 over to Hwy. 16. Nice sweepers and nice views for a laid back ride. Enjoy them all.

Me and the wife started at Fredericksburg Labor day weekend 2009. Rode three sisters on Friday. The scenery was absolutly beautiful. Steep hills and sharp turns were abundant. I've Lived in Texas for 50 years and never knew how beautiful the hill country could be. When going from Fredericksburg it's a full days ride. Can't wait to go back!!!

I am not a motorcyclist. I drive a BMW 335i and drove down last New Years eve from DFW area to drive RR335. Just wanted to say I respect that bikers will be on this road but if you see a car, please understand this road is great for us automobilists too.

Just returned from riding the three sisters May 8th, 2009 on a Valkyrie. Loved the ride. There were three of us. The weather was perfect. Rodes are great and well paved. Definitely plan to ride this route again.

Rode from San Antonio over and caught all the legs of the 3 Sisters before heading to Austin and visit my In-laws for Thanksgiving. Glad I had brought the bike along, but I don’t understand all the signs about Moto related deaths on these roads. We have a lot more curvy, dangerous and fun roads out West.

When I rode it, we left out of Kerrville and took 16 down to start, that's a nice ride as well. I enjoyed the differences of the 3 roads, with 336 being more twisty and 335 being more rollercoaster-like.

The Twisted Sisters are a lot of fun. We've been able to ride it several times now and it has not disappointed us. Route 16 on the way there is a blast of some tight twisties and 'scrapping pegs' is not uncommon.

Scenic ride. Went in late May into early June and it was 100+ degrees everyday. Check out the Frio River (nice and cold). Had a nice stay at a Mom & Pop motel in Leakey, TX.

I live 30 minutes from the Dragon and other great Smoky Mountain roads/rides. So by comparison Three sisters is about a 2 compared to them. There are long sections of straights between curves, not as much leaning back and forth like in the Smokies. Scenery is nice, but you will spend more time watching out for the hundreds of potholes instead of looking at that. BUT... the Three sisters is BY FAR the best in Texas. The Hill country is great. And there are great places to eat some fantastic BBQ and listen to live Blues in this area. The last time I rode the Three sisters was in 2017. Road pavement was really rough and potholed. Lots of gravel and loose stuff on the roads. Curves are NOT banked and in many cases are blind. Huge pickups rounding curves cross the double yellow a lot. many vertical rises will give negative "g's" so be careful. Great area to visit and really FANTASTIC local people. Don't miss Leakey (pronounced Laykee).

This was pure fun!!!!! Romantic, majestic, and thrilling. Ace cafe was excellent and Museum nostalgic. I recommended A peace of Heaven Rv and cabins. Perfect location for the ride and can accommodate a group of 30 plus RVs. Have fun but gas up when you can! Note: Frio Canyon motorcycle shop doesn't open till 10.

my first ever long distance ride and my friends chose the 3 sisters!
We did 850 miles in less than 2 days. While i'm sore like never before, it was by far totally worth it! Definately not for the amatuer though. i was fortunate to go with experienced riders who gave me great advice ahead of time. If you're thinking about trying it out- stop thinking, get on your bike and do it! i only wish we'd had stopped to take in some of the scenery, still the curves, elevation changes and BEAUTIFUL weather was awesome. Running in a pack makes it even cooler.
i was told i'm now an official biker since i survived.

3/12/11 My riding buddy and I rode from Juntion, TX down 377 to 41 then south on 335 to 337 east to Leakey, Tx then north on 335 to 41. The East on 41 to FM 1340 east to 39 then 27 to Kerrville. We ate in Kerrville then headed south on 16 to 337 west back to 335 then headed north to 41 west then north on 377 back to Junction. We rode from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm for a total of 335 miles on Saturday. It was an amazing ride. Temp's ranged in the morning from mid 50's to upper 70's mid day. At the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Shop we stopped and talked with a group of South Texas American Legion riders riding the sisters also. When we arrived back in Junction we were tired,,, but couldn't wipe the smiles from our faces. I suggest any avid rider who wants a day of amazing riding and site seeing,, Ride the Three Twisted Sisters and Hwy 16 from Kerrville down to 377. A Truly Great Day of Riding.

Maybe the high ratings for this route come from riders who have only ridden that area, I don't know, but I've ridden the entire route, and it is probably the ost overrated road on this site. Road Quality: 4/10 Curves: 2/10 Scenery:3/10 If you've ever ridden Cherahala Skyway, Lolo Pass etc. then you know what a real let down this route is. Absolutely forgettable. I can't even say it was even fun at all. Really a boring disappointment. The only true positive is the general area is kind of neat and probably the best part of Texas.

I have ridden a lot of great roads. Unfortunately the lack of road quality knocked this out of any contention. The whole loop really needs a repave job. The missing aggregate was the most troubling. We took a different way back that I nicknamed the ugly cousin (to the sisters). 39 from 83 to Kerrville. Started a little straighter than I had hoped until we dropped into the river valley. FAR better road quality made it a much more enjoyable ride.

Great ride on Sunday, April 26, 2020. Started from Leakey and went up 336 first (counter clockwise). Due to all this Covid stuff, I was hoping there wouldn't be a lot of traffic but was shocked that I didn't see one bike going the way I went over the entire route and only 2 cars. Only saw around 10 total coming the other way the entire route, so it was a very nice solo ride and weather was perfect. I've been on the route before years ago but it was so much more enjoyable this time and definitely recommend this entire area to get away, relax and enjoy the roads and scenery.
