Written Directions

Beginning in Rosman, NC, at the intersection of Old Rosman Highway and US 178, head South on US178/Chestnut Street for approximately 1 mile. After crossing the French Broad River, US 178 changes its name to Pickens Highway. Approximately 1 mile from Rosman, you will arrive at a sharp right-hand turn. Continue straight at this turn onto East Fork Road. East Fork Road winds through the hills for approximately 12 miles before intersecting US 276. At the US 276 intersection, turn left and follow the highway into Brevard, NC, or turn right and follow the highway into the Caesar's Head area of South Carolina.

Scenery

This route winds through a rural and scenic area, hugging the French Broad River for the first 7 miles, then breaking away from the river for a challenging uphill grade with a nice mix of switchbacks and sweepers.

Drive Enjoyment

This road is reasonably well maintained, but watch out for gravel/sand in the road that washes out of private driveways. There is currently (as of 9/2017) bridge repair work happening, so some sections are under construction. Inconvenience is minimal though.

Tourism Opportunities

There are a couple produce stands along the way, but not much to speak of on the route itself. Rosman and Brevard are both preferred rest/food/fuel points before East Fork.

Used this route as a connector after visiting the waterfalls in Dupont State Forest and it was great. Worth the ride.
