This road is beautiful but I've ridden it three times now and I've given up. It's just sooo popular that the traffic always makes it unbearable. You spend the whole time 10 feet from some family SUV going 35 mph and it ruins it.

Chances are good that if you've been down TN/NC then you've been on this road. It's not that the road is bad, it's probably properly fun if you can get it to yourself, but as it's one of the main highways over the mountains, chances are slim to none that you're ever going to see it without traffic, especially with the traffic that places like Pigeon Forge get these days, due to tourism. Lots of nice views, nice to cruise on, just a low probability for spirited riding.

As stated the main highway over the mountain connecting Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge to Cherokee/Maggie Valley area. Entirely too much traffic for me, our last time on it we were stuck behind someone, I'd say 9-10 vehicles back putting around 15-20-25 mph the whole way from Gatlinburg to Cherokee/BRP and they would NOT pull over, the line of traffic behind us was as far as I could see. We were trying to get back to Maggie to beat the weather, didn't happen, very frustrating. Ya know the scenery is nice and all, usually lots of Elk just past visitor center in Cherokee where you get on the Parkway, but for me... would not ride this unless I absolutely had to, way too congested.

It's a great ride if you can get there when there isn't much traffic. Early in the morning seemed to be best for me, there will still be traffic from people out to see the sunrise, but not nearly as bad later in the day. Take a jacket, even if it's warm at the bottom it can get cool at the higher elevations.

Great road!!! Watch for elk near the Cherokee end! I have ridden this road several times, be ready for some cooler weather the higher you go, even in Summer. Great little side trip at the "top" to Clingmans Dome also. This is a fun road!!!!

When going to the Smoky Mountains you will most likely drive on this road. Please keep in mind the traffic all year round. Make sure you stop a time or three to take in the sights.

A really nice ride up into Gatlinburg. Being from the midwest, Gatlinburg reminds me of the Wisconsin Dells. It's a good trip piece of a great day if you take the Helbender to the Dragon to the Cherohala Skyway!

took 2 bikes/ 3 people up from Cherokee to Gatlinburg. It was a nice scenic ride, there was some salt and gravel on the road, due to snow 3 days prior. A lot of looky-loos pulled over on either side of the road due to a bear, which isn't a bad thing just something to be mindful of if you choose to take this route. Its worth it!

Best to ride it on a non holiday / weekend if possible. It gets very crowded, but it's a beautiful and enjoyable ride regardless.

Through the park, great views, good road but park may be busy so watch for sudden stops. Hairpin turns and switchbacks along with gentle curves

Rode this starting in Cherokee, NC. As we entered Great Smokey Mountains, we saw a herd of elk. All through the Great Smokey Mountains, we saw turkeys and other wildlife. Smooth roads and beautiful scenery.

It's worth riding if you've never done it. It's in a high tourist area so often times there is a lot of traffic. When traffic is low very nice ride and beautiful scenery.

I didn’t take route 441 to Gatlinburg from Deals Gap. I took the tail of the Dragon and went north west then East. I don’t remember the route #’s but it was beautiful, and I could cruise at the same time on a snake like road. I kept a speed of 45 to 50 for about 15 miles because the road allowed me to do so. The weather was iffy so I went back the same way and got caught in a terrible storm right on the Dragon. I was on the edge of my seat. I was staying at Deals Gap Motorcycle Lodge. Very nice place I might add. The next time I return I want to ride the Cherohala Skyway, I’m told it’s 43 miles of beautiful riding. Route 143/165. From Robbinsville, NC to Tellico Plains, TN.

Last rode 8/9/2019 (Friday, around noon). TRAFFIC. Bumper-to-bumper, slow-moving traffic. The road was in great condition, the views are good, plenty of places to pull off and enjoy the park with thousands of your friends. But not a good time on a motorcycle, especially if you are just passing through.

Beautiful national park. Took side roads to Cades Cove and to Clingman's Dome, too. Bear crossed our path on the way up to the Dome. Stop and take a walk on the Appalachian Trail. Being it's the main road in the park, it is busy, but still lots of beautiful scenery and sweeping curves.
