A very Relaxed pace way to travel North and South. Great Views, Great roads (some can be challenging) leading onto and off of the Parkway. Lock it into cruise control and enjoy the ride

Over the years I have ridden this many times. In both directions. The whole length. Spring is great, but fall is better. Summer is actually a great time to enjoy the road and in the middle of the week it's not very crowded. Fall is the busiest (leaves changing color). The southern section is the most dramatic from Cherokee, NC to Asheville, NC. Highest elevations, steepest grades, tighter curves and many tunnels. Plenty of pulloffs and overlooks for the fantastic views of mountains dozens of miles off in the distance. Fog in the valleys with blue and purple hues of the slopes and far off ridges. You will see bear, boar, turkey, fox, deer, Elk, coyote, hawks, owls, all from the seat of your bike if you look. North of Asheville is a heavily wooded section up to Blowing Rock replete with lakes, Evergreens, Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel and azaleas, all in bloom between May and Fourth of July. Plenty of campgrounds along the route about every 50 miles, both NPS and private. The northern end of the Blue Ridge is right across the road from the southern terminus of the Sky Line drive (through Shenandoah National Park) which goes another 120 miles to (almost) Front Royal VA. So, basically you can ride from the Smokies to outside Washington DC without any traffic lights or stop signs, all along 600 miles of beautiful scenery. NPS police patrol and can be sticklers about speed limits especially in reduced speed limit areas. Put this on your bucket list for a wonderful trip and time riding. If you can't do the whole thing, at least get in the southern 100 miles between Cherokee and Asheville.

I’ve only ridden portions in NC/TN, but the road is well maintained. Speed controlled at 45 MPH, but we usually fudge that a bit:-). Plenty of turn outs and rest stops for viewing the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains.

I thought this was one of the nicest and scenic rides I've taken. Although is has several challenging turns and curves, it also has beautiful stretches of road that provide the rider complete enjoyment and appreciation of the views.

Beautiful, light traffic, and cool in the summer because of the altitude. There are lots of great towns to visit along the way.

Take your time and spend a few days on this one. Relaxing curves, long range views and numerous pullouts. Off bike there are areas with civil war history and CCC camps from the Great Depression. Some lodging on the ridge, more in the neighboring valleys.

Scenery is so beautiful with a lot of lookouts. Slow pace around 50mph , it’s a National Park with only tourists and no commercial trucks.

Done this on both Indian Scout and Goldwing, There is some really nice scenery and smooth curving roads. I would probably give it a higher score but I had already road the tail and Moonshiners as well as some of the other great roads, and was on my way back to Alabama.

Absolutely beautiful ride. I like going from north to south because the BRP keeps getting nicer and nicer. Last time a buddy and I rode it, it was April 2019, we were I no hurry, so we stuck to the posted speed limit the whole way. Man oh man, was that ever nice.

Did it last summer, not much traffic the day I was on it. Came upon a doe nursing her fawn, while standing in the middle of the road. I waiting for a while and they just stood and looked at me. I finally went slowly past them and they turned and ran alongside for about 20 yards before peeling off into the woods. BRP is a must do ride.

did the "End to Ender" in June 2017 on a Suzuki Burgman 650 Maxi scooter. rode fro Jacksonville Florida to Maine. Spent 2 days doing the Blue Ridge and camping on it 2 nights. Don't start to early in the morning or you will have the sun blinding you. Take time to stop and view the scenery on the turnouts. Lots of tunnels.

This road is by far the cleanest and best maintained of any I've ridden. If you are an impatient rider you may want too avoid it because in the peak season there will be rv's everywhere! The scenery is spectacular from one end to the other.

We've driven up from North Carolina and down from Shenandoah. Awesome scenery. My husband wants some of his ashes spread here. Riding the second time is rain and dark was horrendous. Follow cautions. Fun twisties when leave to go see Crabtree Falls and other sites off the Parkway, but the entire road is well maintained and lots of pull offs.

Rode 8/8 - 8/9/2019 (north to south). The good: Great scenery. Wildlife. Limited traffic, no trucks. Leisurely ride (45MPH!) I took 2 days, but could easily make this a week-long trip if you get off the bike very often. The bad: 45MPH!. Limited amenities. Limited places to get off if you need to get to a town. The other: Some of the tunnels curve, and if you don't take off your shades when entering it can make for a bit of excitement. Fog. A lot of early morning fog.

Drove down the first time and up the second. Beautiful sweeping road with great vistas often on both sides at once. When they say stay off in fog and rain and night, believe them. No edge or middle lines to identify the road and turn offs are invisible when rain is absorbing your headlight. Don't expect twisties or switchbacks here, you're on top of the mountains. Getting up or down of the parkway will give you opportunity.

Every turn, rise, and fall put a new smile on my face. Lots of good company, mellow riders and drivers. Have to be careful on a few sandy and wet spots (some of the drainage from higher elevation will run on road) and watch those decreasing radius turns! Be ready for vehicles stopped on road to appreciate views or waiting for a chance to turn into parking areas. Worth the time, and lots of nice communities with food and lodging just a few miles off each of the access routes.
