Mid summer ride to Tennessee. The ride on the Skyway was beyond words. Was worried about rain, but the sun stayed out the entire ride. Didn't see much traffic, which was great. Got to enjoy the scenery and ride my way.

Did this one during some rain. Only one overlook you could see over. Great road with I'm sure great views if the sun was out!

This is a fantastic ride on a motorcycle. It has nice curves and beautiful views of the mountains. Ride in the fall, you wont believe the colors that stretch out over the mountains for miles. There are plenty of overlooks for colorful pictures and great spots for a picnic. Do make sure you have drinks all there is up there is restrooms, nothing else. Always be sure you have gas before you start and give yourself plenty of time before it gets dark. We like to go in October and the trees are usually in full color. October can also bring snow so check the weather reports for the higher elevations. Once you've been you will go back. I have been back many times. My first time was in 1993 in a four wheel drive pick up truck before the road was fully completed.

Cherohala is a wonderful scenic ride among the mountain ridges over looking the deep valleys that seem to stretch into other states if the view is clear. Some people think it's better than The Dragon, i say it's just different, both offer a completely different experience ~ Cherohala is all about the view and elevation changes while the Dragon is all about the corners a decent scenery. When you ride one, you may as well head over to the other, they are less than 30 minutes away from each other and can both be ridden the same day.

A group of us spent a week in Robbinsville to enjoy all the riding in the area. We of course did The Tail a few times as well as a few other roads in the area. We waited to the Skyway for a nice clear warm day. Or so we thought. It was sunny and getting warm as we headed up. When we got to the top, we were "riding in the clouds". It was beautiful, scary, exciting, breathtaking and exhilarating all at the same time. This weather didn't last very long luckily and we were back to sunny skies. The views from up there are like being on top of the world looking down at its grandeur. As much as your head is on swivel not wanting to miss any of the scenery you do need to be careful. There are some twists and turns to pay attention to. One of my favorite parts about the Skyway are the squirrel crossings. Anyone that has ridden it, knows what I'm talking about. If you are anywhere near this area this a MUST DO ride. You will not be sorry. Its a once in a lifetime experience you don't want to miss

After the dragon, this route was smooth sailing and less traffic making sightseeing much easier. Felt more like a trip through a state park with some elevation changes so bring some warm clothes and dress in layers

After the Tail of the Dragon and Hell bender 28 I was not expecting this ride to be as good as it was. The scenery is a 5 and the rid enjoyment is a 5. Be sure to include it if you are making a pilgrimage to the tail.

An enjoyable ride, not a real challenging. I rode from Tellico Plains to Robbinsville. Curves were 25-30 mph rated until closer to Robbinsville where there were a few 15mph-rated curves. At the time I rode it there was lots of color on the trees - at least in TN, but shortly after crossing into NC, there was a pretty big stretch of no leaves, probably because of the remnants of Hurricane zeta which passed by a couple weeks prior. Plenty of great views with paved parking. I may have to bring some friends next time....

Rode it a couple of years ago now, was a lot of fun! Not a "technical" route, but there were a couple of turns to watch out for. I was on a tourer and had a ball!!! Fall of the year has some beautiful scenery!!

From Atlanta to Cherohala back down US 68 is a fantastic half day ride for anyone living in the metro Atlanta area. I usually don't eat but there are great spots to stop all along the way.

It is one of the best routes in the area near the Dragon. Not as crowded and much longer with sharp turns and at the same time great views. The weather can change rapidly and bring surprises, I had the pleasure of riding it late in the day, in freezing rain that turned into snow! I also rode it in stormy weather, there aren't many places you can stop to shelter. But in good weather it is one of the nicest road I've done in the USA.

Great ride, very technical and not for everyone. We made it part of our summer destinations since we would be east of the Mississippi River. Our first pass was in pouring rain late on a Sunday. Monday’s ride was much more spirited and our cover photo is from “the tail”. One of those bucket list rides checked off the list.

Always a good time on the Cherohala Skyway. Long sweepers from left to right for miles. South Carolina to Tennessee is my preferred direction but either way is equally as beautiful.
