Many times I have seen more motorcycles on the Natchez Trace than automobiles. Great place to ride. You do want to plan your overnight stays. There are quite a few bed and breakfasts located along/near the Trace. You can find info/pictures about them and tons of pictures of the Trace at https://www.NatchezTraceTravel.com

Great, Great ride. We left home in Missouri and traveled through Arkansas to Natchez Mississippi. We had planned this trip to be a Bed and Breakfast trip basically be one night in Natchez, one night in Tupelo and then a couple nights in Nashville after completing the Trace. It was just my wife on her bike and me on mine. Without being long winded, it was a blast. The thing about riding the Trace is that there is no commercial vehicles allowed, no signage (Billboards, advertisements), no stop lights, no stop signs. You just go and go until you want to stop for yourself. Speed limit is between 50 and 55 and just right for cruising. The scenery is beautiful and historical sites are many. The road surface is excellent and well maintained. I highly recommend this ride. All 444 miles but not all in one day. Take a couple and really enjoy it.

Rode the entire parkway from Nashville to Natchez with 6 friends in one day. it took 13 hrs to complete. it was worth every minute. We did miss some of the sights due to darkness. And I mean darkness. There are NO lights anywhere close to the parkway, you have NEVER seen as many stars as you will there. It is awesome. you will NOT regret.

This route has a wonderful introduction above on the sites along the way to visit, so I won't comment there. I traveled the whole distance from north to south, and I enjoyed the recreational feel in not having signs of civilization pressing in everywhere.
Note that the route follows the "area" of the original route, but rarely the exact ground of the first users of the trek from the south. I found it moving to stop at marked locations along the way to step into the woods and view (actually step into) the footmarks of the pioneers of long ago. That gave me chills sometimes--don't miss doing that.

This ride was very boring. I don't recommend it. Would be great for beginners, but for experienced riders, the slow speed and the not so great scenery will bore you to death!!

Seasonal scenery can be spectacular. This road begins just south of Nashville and continues down to Natchez, Mississippi. Wonderfully smooth and scenic. There is a speed limit, like the Blue Ridge. Not a road to HURRY DOWN. No commercial traffic allowed. You will see horse trailers, but no trailers hauling hay bales (as an example). Better plan ahead for places to eat and stay. Not a route to "see what happens" as it is best to plan your route and reserve your spot to stay.

I rode this on my way back from New Orleans in July 2013. I found this road to be fairly boring. The scenery hardly changes for the first 200 miles. It improved north of Tupelo as curves and some vertical relief was added. It was however an improvement over the highway. We did see bald eagles, deer, swamps that you know gators lurked in and a very cool waterfall. I rode it mainly to say I rode the entire 444 Miles of the Natchez Trace.

This is a ride of your lifetime, not because it's a challenging road, but because of the beauty and splendor of the ride. Our loop from Topeka took us through 9 states, rode it from south to north. From the swamps in the south to the pine trees and rolling hills it was a beautiful ride. The speed limit was slow and there were cops monitoring it all along the way. There are short loops off the trace to scenic over looks, old sunken trace, and Indian burial mounds that made it even better. We really enjoyed the laid back pace and will do it again someday.

I have only been about one third of the total distance on the Natchez Trace but I love it. The curves are laid out like a Formula 1 race track. There are lost of interesting park like stops to make . Many are scenic and others are historic. The drawback is that without any sign of commercial life anywhere along the way it can get a little boring especially when you add in the fact that it is supposedly well patrolled and you will most likely have to ride much slower than the road itself would dictate. I've only been pulled over once but I only ride it for short distances most of the time. On weekends the police are out after the sportbike riders burning it up on the Natchez Trace. If you plan to take this road (which you should because it is so beautiful and so unique) do what you can to plan your trip. Find out where you will have to get off to get gas before you leave and take some gas with you if you can. You might also want to bring a sandwich and something to drink as well. Other than that enjoy the beautiful, one of a kind ride that this trip provides.

GREAT RIDE!!!!! If your time allows, ride the entire length of the Park Way and allow time to stop often as they are alot of pull off's with historical markers. My wife was not very fond of motorcycle riding until we made this trip. Graet ride to break in a new rider.

A few miles north of Kosciusko, Ms there is a scenic overlook off the parkway that's worth stopping to see. It is on the east side of the highway. You can also buy gasoline below the overlook.

The length of this ride and the lack of commercial traffic makes it exceptional. 400 plus miles without a stop sign! You can totally lose track of time and place and just enjoy the ride. Can't wait to go again!

Fantastic scenery especially when seasons are changing. A great ride in the middle of summer also because the road is shaded. Kosciusko is a great place to stop. Make sure you go to the downtown square where it features a grand courthouse built in the 1800's along with neat little shops and good food.

Love this route. Have done the entire route both ways several times. Recently rode from Nashville south to Tupelo - the trees were in full fall color and it was gorgeous. Watch out for bambi and other critters. You will see lots of wildlife. Did I say I love this route?

The route shown on the map is incorrect. The Natchez Trace runs from Natchez to near Jackson, Ms., and on towards Tupelo, Ms., then up to Nashville. I believe the route depicted is the Great River Road.

This is not a road if you are looking for thrilling twist and turns and speed. The Natchez Trace is a road to sit back and ride and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this road. There is something to be said for this road and all the history surrounding it. There are plenty of pulloffs to stop and look around, fuel and food is not found on the road but a short trip off the trace you can find these necessities. Plan your stops if you are planning on taking more than a day.
This is a great road to ride from Natchez, MS all the way to Nashville, TN.

This is a step back into time. Must be like US 66 in the 50s. Low traffic 2 lane highway. Note the speed limit is mostly 50 MPH. Also note there is no food, fuel, or lodging ON this road. Plan you gas stops. Oh, and watch for wildlife, especially at night.

Wonderful ride. Road surface was in good shape and the scenery was nice. I started at Natchez and rode the entire length to Nashville. I took two short side trips from the Trace, one to Vickburg National Military Park and the other to Shiloh National Military Park. These side trips served to break up the length of the Trace and provided places for lodging and fuel. All-in-all a trip of a lifetime.

Canopied green and cool. This is a touring road that would disappoint crotch rocket enthusiasts.
The views of farms, trees, and lakes, are endless. The road
is very well maintained. At the north end, there is a bridge that is the perfect place to watch a sunset.

I rode from Nactchez past mile marker 200 then had to pull off due to time constraints. Road conditions are excellent and the scenery is great, no hairpin turns and can be easily manuvered by any rider. Stopped by lake around mile marker 100 to take in scenery and relax, met locals that told me there was nice watering hole just off mile marker 124 but I did not have time to stop. Only drawback is the speed limit so after a while the ride gets really boring so I don't recommend riding the entire 400 miles, but recommend riding 100 miles when you are in the area.

Highly over rated. The last 30 miles is the same as the first 30 miles. Ridiculously low speed limit. The only scenery is trees on both sides of a flat relatively straight road.
Go ride 30 miles of it then imagine hours of endless boredom... You've completed the Natchez Trace.

The wife and I enjoyed this trip. Very good rodes, speed limit is 45 and its patrolled, however when you get near Jackson we did find that the locals will jump on and speed through certain areas. We did find it helpful to plan our places of interest and stops ahead of time.

Green, low traffic, easy curves and mild up and down. Numerous pullouts, trailheads and historical markers , so you can stop and stretch. Went from Franklin, TN to French Camp and back. Plan you meal and gas stops, as it really is like driving through a park, with no visible services immediately on the road. There and plenty of towns along the way, but you'll have to get off the parkway. We did not ride the Tupelo section, as it was under construction. French Camp, was an exception, with basic services visible from the road. They had gas, food, autoparts, bakery etc, just off the road. Try Lost Gringos coffee, for a hot or cold beverage. Surprisingly good espresso.

I rode ~165 miles along the Trace from Tupelo to Ridgeland before heading south to New Orleans. I had been out about 10 days on a 48 state ride from California. I really enjoyed the ride. It was na mellow, smooth, curvy road, so none of the Tail of the Dragon in this ride- but it was just beautiful. It made me think I was in the time of the southern mansions of the 1800s. I must have been on a different ride than Bygordorad...or you just need to take a ride yourself, and see what you like. I rode about 20 of these top rated rides during my trip and this is definitely one I would like to do again.

Great scenic road. No commercial traffic. If you are a history buff, plenty of stops along this route to challenge and enlighten. The road itself is tranquil, smooth, gentle and rolling. Not challenging. no real steep grades, no real twisties. speed limit is strictly enforced but is up to 45 MPH now. With no lights or stop signs good pace and time can be made on this route, and you won't even realize you are riding through Tupelo or Jackson city limits. A side day trip and over night over to Vicksburg is worthwhile if you have the time about 1 1/2 hours off the parkway. Stop at the Tom Bigbee Waterway for a neat visit to the Dam and Army Corp of Eng visitor's exhibit. Shiloh Battle field isn't too far away either. Merriweather Lewis Grave site is along the Trace, not that far from the beautiful bridge over the Tennessee River. Campgrounds are free, first come first served!. and nice! A bucket list ride, for the trip and history and wildlife and changing geography. For twisties go somewhere else.
