Great route for a casual relaxing ride. At the “Shortest Tunnel” there is a staircase that you can climb to the top of the formation overlooking the tunnel.

This is a great connector from the Snake over to Damascus where you can pick up The Phython (Jeb Stewart Parkway) Rt.58 over to Rt.16 above Mouth of Wilson. It's a peaceful ride with some nice curves and the cool short natural tunnel through Backbone Rock.

Nice relaxing ride. I often take this road after dropping down off the Snake 421. Very cool (Especially in the winter and early spring) as it meanders along a creek and has a lot of shade.
