Outstanding ride! Backroad/small town/farmland trip. Very relaxing and embodies all that is American! I believe the best time to ride this would be in late July when the corn fields are in full swing. The small towns along the route offer unique shopping/eating options. Careful on some of the curves as there is loose rock from im guessing winter road treatment. I highly recommend this route.

This is one of our favorite rides (we live in Bedford). It is a very pleasant ride without a lot of traffic even on the weekends. French Lick Winery is a great place to stop for a break, if you decide to by wine for tomorrow they will bubble wrap for free, although the parking lot there is still gravel, it is easy to find & get into.

My wife and I rode this route from Jasper to Bedford on Sunday August 1, 2009. We found this to be a pretty area. We thought the speed limit was a bit too slow for the road. Since it was Sunday the traffic was steady with lots of bikes but then you couldn't ask for a better day for riding. I would have prefer to run a little faster that we were able to because of the traffic. The road conditions were good. There are enough curves to keep your interest and for the beginning rider to learn riding skills. It is a good road for this part of the country.

Beautiful country and scenery, just watch the speed through the curves on Hwy150/route56 to French Lick. I have been to more than a dozen bike wrecks on that stretch of highway. Sharp curves and sometimes loose gravel on the Highway do to stone hauling trucks using that route a lot.

Rode down I55 from downtown chicago to plainfield. Took 126 to oswego 71 to starved rock. Once you get out of the city this route is great. went on a saturday afternoon and saw a lot of bikers heading home. starved rock is great to jump in the river and cool off even though there is no marked swimming areas. A few turns near the state park. Lots of backcountry cornfields. feels like you are really in the midwest
