Motorcycle Type : Touring

I grew up in Romney, WV. I've ridden eastbound and westbound up and down RT 50 all my life. It ranks right up there with any other road I've been on. The "Allegheny Front" with its hairpins and switchbacks are thrilling. However, for the novice they also can be dangerous. Watch for the big rigs; they sometimes take the entire road.

Road us 60 phoenixto virginia beach and 50 back to sacramento, this section of 50 was one of the most memorable parts of the trip. Total miles was 7100 with a ew detours thrown in.

I ride this route frequently and love it. My family came down from Ohio and we rode it over to Winchester then down to Fredricksburg, VA for the annual Pacific Coast VA ride. They loved it and the Cool Springs stop is a must see.

We take this route from Virginia out to Deep Creek Lake in MD and love it. Great gentle twisties, not a lot of traffic and lots of places to stop and shop or look around.

We rode Rt 50 one week end trip back in 1977, had a flat tire and we stopped at the lttle gas/market/restaurant-old tractor museum close to macombre. The wife and I rode the route this year on the Vision it is a great road for twists and turns. Also last year took a trip west and ended up on Rt 50 yep same Rt 50 it used to be the pony express route.

If you have taken this ride, you went past my house! I actually live on Rt. 50 at the Joyce Street exit in Clarksburg, WV. My wife and I drive Rt. 50 literally everyday. Most our "rode trips" start out on Rt 50. We have traveled the road from Parkersburg, WV to Winchester, Va.Beautiful scenery, nice roads, good curves, lots of places to pull over and enjoy the view. This was a leg of out 2008 VA Beach ride and it was not known when we left just how much there was to see. Awsom ride. If I can find the pics I will send them in. Now I know why the slogan is "Almost heaven"
