I live nearby and ride these roads very often. There is a lot of construction in the Franklin area at the northern end of this ride. I think it's better to go west on Hwy 96 from the Cracker Barrel about a mile and catch Arno Road at the traffic light, and avoid South Carothers. On the south end, Duplex Road is very congested and has short sight lines due to the rolling hills. Personally I think it is very dangerous west of I-65 so I avoid Duplex Road as well.

Having said all that, I love riding in this area. It's hard to go wrong.

Nice route, great scenery. Had quite a few dump trucks coming at us when we went through, but other than that, it was very nice.
