Beautiful ride but take plenty of water. Did this Aug 30, 2013, 108 degree's. the visitors center has a hut outside with about 4 vending machines, all empty. We were out of water and my wife was beginning to feel sick from the heat. There is a water fountain inside but the water was not cold. The ride is worth it but take along plenty of Cold water in a cooler!

This is one of the most visually stunning rides I've been on. It also works quite well as a warm-up for the rest of the rides in the area. None of the corners are really hairy, but allow you to practice line selection. There's also plenty of reasons to stop, as the wildlife just roams around. If you're in the area, you would be hard pressed to find a good excuse to NOT ride this.

Like so much of SD, this is another great ride. Plenty of curves and some switchbacks. Great scenery. Watch for Bison. Lots of areas to pull over and take pictures.

Ran into a load of bison on this loop. Had to stop and wait for them to pass all around within 8 feet of me. Was a bit unnerving.

Long views, beautiful vistas good road. Ask at the ranger station if the buffalos are what you're looking for because it's a long ride if they aren't there

We got up early one morning in hopes to see the wildlife, didn’t happen. A lady at the Visitors Center said the Bison were 6-8 miles down one of the gravel roads. We went on around the loop, had a great breakfast at Blue Bell Lodge, just a few thousand feet after we pulled out of restaurant, heading north on 87, saw three buffalo on side of road.

We rode it during the Sturgis Rally in 2013, the weather was perfect! It's a beautiful, big park with lots of wildlife. Take your time and enjoy the nature around you. Don't get too close to the Buffalo.
