Cool route close to the west side of the metroplex with the a country feel that you'd normally have to drive a lot further away for. If you like neighborhood speeds with 20 mph sharp turns and shade, you'll love it. The roads have some roughness, but no potholes or uneven lines. You might get stuck behind a senior citizen in fear of driving over 20 mph, and you'll probably have a local ride up on your ass, but I really liked the ride. There's even a nice park halfway through that you can stop and stretch at. I'd be afraid to drive it at night. Limited sight on many turns might run you right into a local animal, and the lighting is non-existent most of the way. You might land in the lake via the drop offs, if you don't see these turns coming up. It would probably be a great summer day ride because of the shade.

Great ride. Loved it. The city of Fort Worth knows how to treat there citizens. Why would anybody want to live any place else. Lake life and tree cover roads. I'll ride the Lizard Tail again.

This is a fantastic ride. Most of the ride is a slow going winding road among trees, charming lake homes and lake side parks. The highlight is the Heron castle that simply stands out in the area. There are some dirt roads that connect with the paved roads so beware of gravel in these areas. There is White Settlement on one end of the trail and Lake Worth on the other so your never very far from a soda or gasoline. This trail begins only about 2 miles from my house and has become a Sunday afternoon tradition for me as a great way to end the weekend and start the work week. My wife will ride with me on occasion and we will head on into Azle for a catfish dinner. I have ridden many trails over the years but this is my most ridden as it is so pleasant and close to home.

I've ridden this route many times. It's very enjoyable and scenic for a Fort Worth area ride. The roads are mostly nice and curvy and the pace is leisurely. It's not a wannabe racer route.

Good: It was a nice ride in July heat with the tree canopies, lake views, cookout and sunscreen smells, and low speeds.
Bad: The road is torn up in a few places and there are several blind curves. Road humps are present in the route by the some of the park areas.
Conclusion: I wouldn't trek a long way to experience this route but if you live nearby it's good, given we don't have many options. Next time I'll stop in one of the parks and seek to enjoy the environment more before moving on.

As a Fort Worth resident this is about as a good as it gets locally.
I'd recommend first-timers brush up on your "Charging Dog Avoidance" techniques - they may come in handy when riding past the unfenced homes at lake level...

Definitely has twisty but some sections are essentially neighborhoods with lots of zero-viz driveways. More of a relaxed cruise w/ twisties. Will ride again.

One of my go-to routes when I’m looking for a quick ride close to Ft Worth. Nice and twisty with views of the lake here and there.

Calm and somewhat scenic ride. Fairly residential area and a lot of the roads are in rough condition.

The route runs along the lake on the north side of 820. The pavement is in good condition and the streets are lined with trees with intermittent views of the lake.

Short but pretty. Traveled up from Austin. Took some nice photos at the marina and under the TX Hwy 199 bridge.

Ride had decent scenery and lots of curves. Road surface was not the best with allot of construction and loose gravel. Spent most of my time in 2nd gear. Nice local ride but I would not go too far out of my way to get here.

This route lasted maybe 20 minutes at most, making it a lackluster destination after riding out from Dallas. Despite the lack of distance on the route, it did offer some great curves and shaded roadways, making for an enjoyable yet brief ride. If you're looking for a new place to ride and you're already in or near Tarrant County, I would recommend it, if you don't feel like getting out of second gear.

For Fort Worth and Tarrant County, this is okay for a short ride or some quick wind therapy. The road can be extremely busy and it has heavy and large trucks on it due to a Landscape Mulch company. Tight turns, some views of Lake Worth.

Rode this one in January. I'm a new rider and this piqued my interest in riding more of the trails on the site here as well as coming back to this one many more times, especially in warmer weather.
