This is the ride that I take when I just want to get out of the city for a little bit and see some nature but I don't want to ride too far. It's very convenient if you live in Phoenix or Mesa, and I think it's one of the most beautiful areas nearby.
The only thing that I would add to the review would be that you should make sure to pick up a Tonto pass if you're considering stopping at any of the parks. It's not needed at the lake, but all of the other stops along the way all require a Tonto pass. The pass is inexpensive and can be picked up at gas stations on the road nearby.

Like one of the other reviewers, this is my go to driving route out of Scottsdale. Great fun, but be careful at high speed because there are a lot of blind curves that drop off without warning! And lots of critters at night. I'd also recommend a detour down Usery Pass Road as that has even more curves and elevation changes than the last half of Bush Hwy.

Don't miss restaurant at the lake for great view while eating. Friday nights are packed for the "all you can eat Fish Fry", so go early. It's worth it. Summer weekend ride can be crazy since they tubing on the river is so popular they bus people in to strategic off-load points south of the lake.

This is an awesome road! Lots of curves, lots of straights, and lots of opportunities to pass if drivers are going slow. Lots of places to stop and look at the nature around you. There's also a shooting range and offroad spots for dirt bikes if you continue down to the dirt trail to the bottom.

Bush Highway is a heavily traveled road for the suburbs. Saguaro Lake is a popular recreation area. When we rode it in 2018, they were doing a lot of road construction. The were views of the lake, but you're too busy with traffic to enjoy. Lovely country, but not real enjoyable ride.

Great get out in the evening after work ride. Lots of slow speed limits here as there is a recreational area.
