Went out on an early Saturday morning after a light rain. Traffic was very minimal. Very tight and technical with a lot of good elevation changes. There are some nice high speed sections as well. I like this run a lot.

I dare say it's better to 231 south all the way to 18, then take 18 north back onto 221. It extends the loop, and extends it for the better, in my opinion.

Update 7/28 - Heads up they are doing some kind of construction in the area and the section between the S Bridge and the convenience store has fine dirt and pebbles in the center section of the road.

Also in my 3 years of riding this route I have never encountered Deer but I did twice on 231 so leave a little in the bag!

Still an amazing road worth riding if you live relative close (within an hour)

Nice scenery, good turns and elevation changes.
However, the road quality and gravel in multiple areas make for a bit of a nervous ride.
That being said, if I went back for another round, I reckon I would enjoy it even more.
Recommend you check it out, it was less than a 3 hour round trip for me, and it was worth it!

Continue on 231 South all the way to Rt 18. Follow 18 back to Washington.

Nice loop that goes through serene countryside, some nice twisties especially on the 221 portion. Good loop to add to a longer trip, for example taking the 40 to Wheeling, or maybe continuing South on the 221 to Prosperity, cutting back West on Mt Zion road or on the 18 to catch the 231 North back to the 40.
