Another great run along the Mississippi. Bluffs, small town charm, good cruising roads ...

I live on Hwy.35 in Wi and ride the loop many times a year. Very scenic and many places to stop. The meat market in New Albin, IA has the best smoked meats. There is a grat scenic overlook in Lansing. And the Roadhouse in De Soto, Wi has great pizzas. Do not order the large unless there are at least 8-10 people!

You get to cruise into the past while taking in the tremendous views of the Mississippi driftless area. Bluffs hundreds of feet high guide your route up and down the mighty Mississippi. There happen to be many Historical markers and places to stop for picturesque views. If you stop in La Crosse I highly recommend taking the ride up to Grandad Bluff. When riding through Lansing, IA you get to ride over The Black Hawk Bridge; a steel riveted cantilever through truss bridge completed in 1931. It's one of the more unusual bridge designs on the Mississippi. While in Lansing stop at Mt. Hosmer for more amazing views!

Another great ride, although the Iowa/Minnesota side clearly outclass the east portion of the ride.

Another easy scenic ride on both sides of the Miss. Very similar to the river ride to the north.

My review is a little biased since, I grew up riding these roads. For someone who has never been to the area or has never experienced the steel bridge in Lansing or the Great River Road house in De Soto you will love it. For the area, these roads offer nice sweeping corners and some rollers when coming down off the bluffs. You stay close to the River the entire time and there are plenty of unique things to see along the way.

On the Wisconsin side of the route there are plenty of places to eat, view nature and even camp. Once in Iowa the scenery gets better and the tiny towns are spread out a little more.

Agree with others' remarks. Roads are in excellent shape, and the scenery is beautiful. Definitely a pleasant, relaxing cruise. The bridge, with its open-grating for a deck is a little creepy/rickety-feeling though.

The Wisconisn side of the Mississippi looks a bit like Colorado in places. The road surfaces are an 8 out of 10 on this route. Low traffic on weekdays. Some traffic, but not bad on wekends.
