I love this ride. If you have the time then its a must. The 18 has some nice tight turns and the road has been redone recently. The 38 seems to favor wide sweeping turns so you can really turn that throttle. Also, there are sections that have recently been repaired so it makes for a better ride. You won't be disappointed.

This could be one of the best section of roads in So Cal often referred to as the "Rim of the World Ride"...but should be called "Ride with the World"...it gets loaded with traffic, lots of tour groups, campers, horse trailers etc. I would avoid it on a weekend your you'll spend your time negotiation passes on groups of 3-10 cars at a time. It is still a "must do ride," but manage your expectations and a stop for brunch at the Belgian Waffle Works in Arrowhead is worth the fight. Call ahead so you don't have to wait.

This is a great ride but I wish it was longer. I guess i could do it twice. The scenery is cool and the roads are in pretty good shape.

Great ride to escape the hustle & bustle of SoCal. The scenery is great & you can escape the heat of summer.

I would suggest starting in Redlands and go up the mountain using Hwy 38. There tends to be less traffic.
