I had come down to the Lexington area to ride the Red River Gorge area and the Nada Tunnel near Stanton riding a loop that also went through Hazard, Harlan, Berea, Nicolasville returning to Georgetown. The next day looking for an interesting route home I found this trip up to Carrolton. It was a fantastic ride through horse and tobacco country with curves and hills that did not allow much time for admiring the scenery, but was great fun.
Rode over to Rabbit Hash afterward to eat and pet the dogs. Great trip that I hope to ride again.

Rode on 6/5/20. Nice road, occasional twisty sections. Quite a few construction sites along the route.

227 isn't the greatest scenery, but it could compete with some of the twistiest roads in KY, on the Owenton to Georgetown Route side. She lets up a bit on the Owenton to Carrollton side. And in some places, the scenery is excellent with ridge-riding farmland & bottomland riding along creek beds. Plus there's Elk Creed Winery in Owen County at the half-way point. The route comes within a quarter mile of the Vineyard, at the intersection of 227 & 330. I like this ride for the watering hole in the middle & the great twisty's on the south side!

Imagine the "Tail" 6 times over! Come out of one turn and immediately into another. This road kept us on our toes for over 70 miles! Good road, but quickly learned what "breaks in pavement" meant. Several insides of turns have been eroded by water run off and pavement has cracked and dropped. Usually you have advance view of it, and really this didn't detract from the overall ride.
