This is a great ride, with lots of twistys, starting at 4600ft peaking at 8000ft.
The road is only open from Late May through October, with the Fall colors showing in Late September and October. The cost is $6 for a 3 day pass to the area, so you can plan on doing it a couple of times.
If you go in the morning, you will miss most of the traffic, as it is a popular route.

Must be on your "A" game when traveling this route. Heavy traffic at times with no room for error. Not for beginners. With that being said..it is very beautiful for sure. Rated it a "3" just for the fact of traffic.

It is a beautiful, winding mountain road with good quality pavement. The side-trip to Cascade Springs is well worth your time, and, if you don't mind dirt road, there is a free back entrance from Midway.
This road can be combined with Guardsman Pass and Pine Canyon Rd. out of Midway for an excellent afternoon ride from Salt Lake City to Thanksgiving Point.

Beautiful ride, but you have to be paying pretty close attention. There are a lot of spots that are barely a lane and a half wide, and sometimes it is surprisingly heavily traveled. Watch out for trucks pulling campers!

This is a summer/fall ride only and closed in the winter. The scenery is amazing and most beautiful from the top to Provo Canyon (Hwy 189). The road is narrower on this side so be alert for oncoming vehicles that hog the road. Stop at Sundance Ski Resort and walk around. If you go south on 189 from the Sundance side, you will see Bridal Veil Falls, another great photo stop.

Wasn't as spectacular as had hoped. The road dumped us out on US highway, but it appears to continue on as another state road. Never found it!

I've done this ride several times. I've found that it's a lot better coming up the sundance side. Going the other way, cars just come up way too fast on those very tight runs and small roads that it make it very tense.
Also, I actually prefer to ride coming into Cascade Springs instead. Much less traffic and a lot more to see.

A fun ride and beautiful scenery. Watch out for slow drivers and those that want your side of the road.
