Definitely will test your riding abilities!! Unfortunately I rode after we have had alot of rain there was gravel at the end of every driveway, so be on the lookout! I rode 12 oclock knob road towards Salem VA downhill, but would have been better going uphill I am sure, the road surface was very uneven, 15mph speed limit but did 25 was on a bike of course. Be careful. Take 221 towards Cave Spring/ Salem for a great view coming down out of the mountains. Definitely a twisty road and narrow...look where you want to go

Not that the Blue Ridge Parkway and all of its twisties could ever bore you, but if you want a change and a bit of a lower elevation take the exit off of Blue Ridge and hit up this road. Certainly plenty of challenging twisties, was sparse patches of gravel here and there, but I think that is because a truck was spilling a bit. Certainly worth the effort if you're staying the night in the Roanoke area.
