My wife and our friends John and Robin rode this trip 9/11. Great ride. My wife is also a new rider riding a V Star 950 Tourer. The ride was scenic with a variety of road types. Fun ride for new and experienced riders. Luck have it, we dressed in layers as it was COLD in the AM. An HOT. In the afternoon.

Nice ride. It's not true that there are no places to stop and take pictures. Great views of Roosevelt Lake and surrounding mountains.
Stopped at the bar/lounge/restaurant in Punkin Center. AWESOME hamburgers and very cool tavern.
Get fuel in Punkin Center. Jakes corner was almost a dollar a gallon higher than in Globe.
Overall a very nice ride although my speedo says it's about 245 miles, not 203.

This route is simply amazing, my wife and I spent the day on a BMW 1200 GS doing this. The views are spectacular the entire time, on the way out to Roosevelt it got a little chilly, but from Roosevelt back to Mesa it was HOT. Roads are good condition, the hwy 60 section was a bit under construction as of 3/10/16, but still great ride.

I've done this route twice... once on a rented R1 and another time in a rented Porsche Boxster S. I haven't tried any others, however, this route has it all... straights, twisties, climbs and descents. Best of all, both times there was little to no traffic in the "fun" parts(from Apache Junction to Globe then Globe to Punkin Center). Only part I wasn't a big fan of was AZ-87 and all the large pickups towing boats and RVs that were doing 80-90mph.

Good ride, perfect for just getting out on the road for part of a day. Mostly open highway, Mostly desert and high desert terrain but between Globe and Apache Junction on 60 some 2 lane mountain terrain. I do it often.

There are great SEGMENTS on this loop, but taken in its entirety the 188 section of this route is pretty lame; difficult to see Lake Roosevelt, and essentially 0 amenities from Superior all the way until you loop back into Fountain Hills. If you're looking for big loop rides to-from PHX, reconsider taking 87 all the way to Payson, connect West on 260, and south on 17. Or head out to Globe and hit the Globe/Winkleman/Superior loop in the website.

A quick business trip from Western NC to the Phoenix; took a day to rent a bike and check out the Tonto National Forest. Early April with the desert in bloom - this was a great ride. There is some great scenery along Roosevelt Lake and the Cliff Dwellings were pretty spectacular. Jake's Corner is a must stop, decent cantina food, they have live music with frequency, and good spot to stretch the legs. Headed back towards the Fountainhills area, hit the Usery Mountains, worth the ride. 60 West is the low point on the ride, just tarmac. Traffic throughout the ride wasn't bad at all. I wore my summer textile jacket and thought it was perfect, good airflow and kept the sun exposure low. I would suggest throwing a few water bottles in the saddle bags -

My wife and I rode this two up and it was a great ride! Wide open roads, wonderful scenic views, little traffic and some great elevation changes especially coming down 87 into Mesa. This section features a lot of 6% grades coming down the hills. We did take a "shortcut" into Mesa though. We took the N Bush Hwy which leads into the Butcher Jones recreation area and features Saguaro Lake and Salt River basin area. This part of the ride was a great way to wind down at the end of the ride.

This is a nice ride. You ride through the mountains of central Arizona and there are a couple areas where you can get off take some photos or do a little hiking. The cons of this route are that at times the heat can be overbearing and because of the local lake traffic, law enforcement can be a bit thick causing traffic to slow beyond what's considered normal.
