This was a very scenic route. My buddy and I came up from the southwest burbs of Chicago and went through Monroe, WI (recommend Baumgartner's for lunch and ask them to throw a dollar on the ceiling), and New Glarus, WI, (stopped at the brewery) to get to Sauk City. Highly recommend the Route 60 ride. Lots of twists and turns and scenic views. We dropped down into Dubuque, IA, for the night and casino offerings. Overall, good times. Thank you.

Whether you are looking at the great sand bars of the Wisconsin River or the forests and bluffs of the hills, nearly evey mile of this route is beautiful. In mid July, the brighlty colored prairie flowers meet the shoulders of the road in perfect harmony. I highly recommend this route to anyone who wants to see the splendor of a Wisconsin summer on the back of a bike.

Deemed a scenic route by the state, it's a good ride. Plenty of curves as well as straight aways. Not overly busy -rode on a bright/balmy Saturday near end of May. Very few stops or slow downs. Smooth roads. Well worth riding more than once.

Not rated '5' simply because it is quite rural. If love rural, then it would probably rate a 5 for you.

We did this route in 3 days, and took our time..... Lots to see and do. We went south from Mcgreggor to Dubuque and on to Galena. Going to make this an annual ride!

This was absolutely fabulous! The vistas were fantastic and the road is one the best around in the area - 100% smooth. Recent repairs done to the roads clearly in some parts. Excellent scenery! Nice easy curves, ( nothing real challanging) plenty of stops (food, gas, and nescessaries) Couldn't have designed a more perfecttouring route!

I rode this in fall, and the it was a great scenic road that time of year. I found I was going faster than I wanted to to get my lean on... but slowing down and looking at the fall colors was worth it.

This route is a must see for any biker planning a route ride through southern Wisconsin. There is very little traffic with some amazing views. The road quality is an 8 out of 10 for smoothness.

I grew up in WI, and my sister lived near this route. I made the trip several times, and never got tired of it. Each time you ride it, it is a different experience.

Can anyone recommend a route to skirt Madison's Beltline coming from the east on Route 12? I'd like to do this trip next summer.
