This is an excellent piece of pavement and twisty and banked turns but it is crawling with officer friendly. Speed traps and stops are standard here. Mercer island has its own cops and they patrol heavy- this road is the domain of 25mph and bicyclists its residential throughout. Not the place to go with your cruiser or street rocket and carve some turns.
I got a fixed penalty ticket for 32 mph. I was carefully observing speed limits. Its all 25 and 30 mph...

The Mercer Island loop is a great short ride with lots of corners and a great view. When ever passing through the area I make it a point to do the loop.

Great road to work on tight corners and vision! Not a go-fast road at all, but nice surroundings and an enjoyable, tranquil route. Watch out for bicyclists, pedestrians and hidden driveways.

I had very mixed feelings with this ride. although, the ride its self was fun, very twisty and you had to work it work the bike, which I did enjoy, the traffic, especially the pedestrian and bicycles was extremely heavy. Yes, I know they live there, and I do appreciate that point. Which is why I am rating this ride so low. It is very hard to enjoy the ride when you come around a full 180 tight turn face into a family walking and a couple of biker on the other side.

A good little route to help you keep those tires rounded out. If you are a local you are probably used to squaring off your tires on I-5. No local law enforcement sightings on my ride at about 5:45 PM on a Monday. If you aren't used to views of gorgeous mountains, prepare to have your breath taken away. LOOK OUT for cycle guys/gals, it would seem that they enjoy this route as well. LOOK OUT for rich dudes in their SUVs that can't stay on their side of the road. I did see loose gravel in the other lane on ONE turn heading north on East Mercer, overall great road condition. Enjoy, and ride safe!

The west side is just a casual ride with nice views of the water but the east side has some really nice twisties and is a lot of fun, despite being only 30mph. Have to watch out for cyclists and pedestrians though.

Nice twisties on the east side of the island. There are usually locals walking or biking around the area, so be careful when going around corners. While I have never encountered one, I also saw signs for bus stops, so watch out for that as well. Not a lot of sceneries except for multi-million dollar houses.

A mostly uninterrupted loop around a residential community. The highest speed limit is 30mph. The Eastside of the island is very twisty and typically ridden in 4th/5th gear. Must share the road with cyclists (some with an attitude). Remember that you're a visitor passing through a residential area, so ride through with a healthy dose of respect for the residents and wildlife there (deer, raccoons, squirrels, owls are often observed). Residents there often show their displeasure by standing on the shoulder with a camera to share videos on social media and complain. Well patrolled by law enforcement during the more pleasant season. Eastside of the island is well paved with fresh asphalt laid within the last two years (now 2020). Westside is not as nice, but still OK with some places are chip sealed and the gravel can be loose after the chilly season.

nice ride, but very heavy with bicyclist on the west half and pedestrians on the west 2/3. do not ride during any weekday if school buses are running. best speed 35, typical speed 25-30

Great ride around the bourgeois hood. The south and east part of the loop have less traffic and longer sweeping curves. I almost went back for seconds.

My folks live on M.I. and I used to ride around the island before going over to their house for a little meditation before, and sometimes after, the visit.

Fantastic road! As advertised. Three important things to watch for: slippery when wet -- moss and dampness as some areas never see the sun; bicycles - lots of them; and police - they also know this is a favorite.

I was very surprised by this road, expecting a tour through suburban houses, there was a lot of forest, and good parks to stop at. It's still a short, low speed road, but has a lot of great curves that are still fun at 10 over.

Great road with lots of twists. East Mercer Way has lots of hairpins and feels like a road from a WRC tarmac stage. Be careful of bicycles, pedestrians, the notoriously bored police, and rich kids that cross the double yellow line. Going 10mph over the speed limit is plenty fast even for a sport bike.

I really liked this rout, its very windy with some really tight turns. Overall It was fun, but check the weather wind and rain could be an issue.
