I live up here at 8.000 ft. outside of Heber, this is a GREAT ride. Elevation changes so if its warm down low you could freeze your bag off over the Wolf creek summit at almost 9600 feet. The fall colors are awesome, be careful of Sheep, cattle and especially deer. Heber has a great saloon called the Angry Bull, food is good and beer is cold. The Ride up Mirror Lake Hwy to Evanston is also a really good ride Ride Safe

I'm from Riverton, Utah which is just south of Salt Lake City. My wife and I did this ride in June of '07 as a day ride. Your description is excellent and right on. Utah has beautiful scenery and many roads perfect for motorcycles. The only thing you left out was the return trip back into Salt Lake. Don't forget about Provo Canyon! Use this route to return to Salt Lake to top off a wonderful day ride.

Great ride! I started the trip going up Provo Canyon, and came down through Park City and Parley's Canyon.

The twisties during the second half of the ride are great, with lots of opportunity to pass slower moving vehicles.

I had breakfast at the cafe in Hannah, and ate lunch at Redrock in Park City. You can also eat in Kamas, which is on the route.

This was my first ride in UT, but I don't see it getting much better than this. I started in Provo and drove north, and did this route counter-clockwise. The southern leg has great views of rock formations, rivers, and I think two lakes, while the north branch has fun winding roads with much less traffic. My only note would be that the mileage estimates seem to be 30-50% short, so plan fuel accordingly (e.g., Hanna to the next junction is ~45 mi). Highly recommended ride and tack on a ride to/from Provo (great views along the river) or through Park City (wide open views of the mts/slopes) on either end! Ride like the wind.

Try this. Cedar City to Salina, Salina to Fairview, Fairview to Skyline mine, Mine to Hiway 40, Use the Emma Park cutoff, Up Indian Canyon to Duchesne, Up over 35 to Francis(best part) then up the Mirror Lake Hiway.. Stop for the night at Evanston.440 miles of fun.. Total of ten drops of rain and cloudy the entire way. Perfect perfect. Hope to do it many times more PS Does anyone have a picture of the "Motorcycle Advisory" sign? Wish we had stopped for that...

I do this ride all the time. If you get to the Francis to Hanna part before 9am, you will see very few cars. However you will be heading into the sun, watch out for deer at that time of the day. If you continue the ride through Hanna east to Duschesne, the cafe on the main street in Duschesne has the best breakfast in the area.

Left SLC at 5:30 am July 4th. Drove up Parley's, then did the Francis - Hanna - Tabiona part first. A bit chilly. You may need to head towards Duschene to refuel before heading back toward Heber,: 50+ miles from where you pick up 40 to the next gas station. Ate at Chicks in Heber. Home through Provo canyon, and to the Lehi pool with the fam by 10:15. Not a bad way to spend a morning!

I did this ride Saturday May 31, 2008 for my first ride of the season. I went the opposite direction. Absolutely gorgeous and would make for a great morning or afternoon. I didn't stop at the Hanna's Kitchen since getting late...but I will do this ride again and definitely will next time.

I am visiting from NJ and rented a bike for the day. Thanks for the recommendation. Beautiful ride. Description and directions were on the mark.

Love this ride! We generally start in Francis (having ridden up from SLC) and then stop for a meal at the Hanna Cafe - it's very popular with riders. You then have two options: go back the way you came and experience everything in reverse, which is still very pretty, or proceed from Hanna east and then turn south to intercept US 40 and then blaze on back to SLC or wherever you're going. Either way it's a pleasant short-day ride. Watch out for sheep!

Although shown as a loop ride, I would ride from Heber over Wolf Creek Pass to Hanna, stop and eat there and then ride the same way back. Hwy 40 isn't as scenic and the traffic is much faster. Enjoy the ride making it an out and back trip. You reach high elevations, incredible curves and scenery, and then Hanna is a small town with two places to eat. The Hanna Cafe is set back in time and the food is always decent.

I’ve done this ride a lot and previous reviews are spot on. But I start the ride in Orem/Provo, Utah. It makes this route an all day ride depending on how often you stop to check out sites. I ride from Orem/Provo and head east through Provo Canyon, Midway and Heber, then I do this route backwards from how it’s mapped out here. Turn North at Heber then east just past the end of town, up and around Jordanelle reservoir, east through Francis and then Wolf Creek Pass before looping back southward to Hwy 40 and back to Heber through Midway and Provo Canyon to Orem/Provo. Either way you ride this loop it is very beautiful and offers a variety of wonderful mountain country (big mountains btw not rolling hills like in other parts of the country), spectacular views of Jordanelle from up above, forested canyons, some nice long sweeping curvy roads, twisties, and a stretch of open road on Hwy 40 Where you can open up the throttle and rest a bit from the ride through the canyon then finish off with one more 30 min twisty canyon ride back through Provo Canyon to Orem/Provo.

Great ride! When I do this again I’ll do the North section out and back over Wolf Creek pass. The road is great and I love riding the twisties!
