Okay here goes. Take 56 N. out of glen rose, about 3 miles turn left at post oak cemetary to lanham mill, turn right(left is low water crossing) all the way to 51, turn left (51 gets a lil hairy) to 67 turn left , go 1 mile to 203, turn right to 144 turn right through walnut springs, turn right on 927 to iredell turn left, right, left to 1238. all the way to cranfills gap. Beer and a burger at Horny Toad. leaving cg take 219 to clifton and 6 to meridian or 22 out of CG to meridian both are nice. BTW glen rose locals go to LocoCoyote for BBQ (south on 67 turn right just before 51) sign on the door says " if your in a hurry go somewhere else" worth the wait.

Nice route if you like going in a straight line... FM 6 and 220 in/out of Hico are straight as an arrow. Here is a slight variation to make it MUCH better: from Iredell head back NE to Walnut Springs, then take FM203 north from Walnut Springs (fun road) to where it intersects with Hwy 67. Turn left and go a few miles west to FM51 - one of the best twisty roads in the entire area - not real long but WAY fun... watch for occasional rocks/gravel from ranch vehicles. Follow FM51 until a right turn onto FM205, heading back toward Glen Rose. Goes past Dinosaur Valley State Park. Great scenery and knee draggers happy too!

Wow... that is one boring loop (who wants to ride in a straight line?) and it takes you right by some excellent roads! Bypass Hico altogether and head from Iredell over to Walnut Springs on FM927... then go north on 144 just a mile or two outside of town and take FM203 to the left.. great fun and it gets better as you go farther north until it ends at Hwy 67. Now go left/west a few miles and pick up FM51 - one of the best short stretches of twisties around and it rarely gets mentioned. Then take FM205 back into Glen Rose... a much more satisfying route.

Nice route and there are great views through out this northern Texas hill Country area. I agree with another poster that it is fairly straight route on state highways that bring the HP and Traffic with them. I live in Glen Rose and last weekend rode to Walnut Springs to meet a son and daughter in-law to ride up to Cranfills Gap and back. Best route if circuitous is...... FM 205 out of Glen Rose which follows the Paluxy rive past the Dinosaur State Park to FM 51, left there to HWY 67 then left a couple of miles till you hit FM 203 on the right to Walnut Springs. (couple of places to eat and gas) Take FM 927 to Iredell then FM 1238 & 219 to Cranfills Gap. Take your pick back home or wherever your going. FM 219 to Clifton then right on through to HWY 22, turn right then a couple miles till you hit FM 56. Left here will take you back to Glen Rose.

There are lots of great roads in this area. While this route seems a little mundane, I would say it allows the rider to relax on many no technical stretches with a few intense twisties here and there. Be extra careful on hwy51 as there is one high speed turn that's goes from a good camber to completely flat without much warning. I think the state finally posted a motorcycle warning there last year but many motorcyclist have died on this turn. Hwy 51 is fantastic otherwise and once you know where to slow down, you will want to run this road again and again. Cheers, be safe.

This ride did not live up to the rating it has on this site. I am a less is more kind of guy like has been stated. Although, I didn't find many of the twisties or sweepers that were talked about.

Great little route if you want to improve on it when when you get on 64 north of 220 look for 51 (to Paluxy) it intersects from the North (just past Chalk Mtn). My Girlfriend and I took it all the way up to Granbury. To get back to Glen Rose from there a good scenic but quicker way back is 144. I enjoyed that loop more that the one below. If your hungry when you get to Glen Rose eat breakfast at Andersons I ordered their Breakfast special and just couldn't finish it..

Decent Scenery on this route, but it is definitely a Less-Is-More experience. The downtown area of Hico is all but deserted as far as attractions go - the downtown area is one square block - that's it.. The Billy The Kid Museum was the highlight, and although interesting, wasn't my cup o' tea. There's a restaurant a few doors down that seems to get most of the business..

Did this ride a few weeks ago, starting in Waco. Although I enjoyed the ride, it was not quite as good as I was expecting it. If I recall correctly, the best part was the FM 56 to Glen Rose. Nice scenery and decent roads with little traffic. All in all, I would do this ride again sometime.
