I rode this route over the weekend 05/03/14. Just a quick update, FM677 Forestburg to St. Jo construction has completed with new black top. To avoid slabbing Hwy82 out of Muenster, just continue south on FM373 for additional curves and then left on FM922 which takes you back into Valley View, much better ride than slabbing the highways.

This was originally a spur of the moment ride. I had originally made plans for Sunday to go on a different route but seeing how the map guy bailed on us for a quick Saturday ride I looked this one up and we rode out to it. It was so nice I bailed on Sundays route and did it twice both days back to back. It's very scenic and lovely. Good turns and straight aways. Some odd reason everytime we stopped in forrestburg it seemed like there was something going on. Saturday we ran into a Honda goldwing group that had to be 15 to 20 people strong. Then Sunday a group of classic cars shows up. It was an amazing ride and found some good spots to eat in St. Jo and Muenster. Plenty of rode and a lot of bikes out there. People who live in the area are nice and helpful. Windmills look amazing and you van get up close

I lived in Denton for four years and a slight variation of this ride was my 'go to' ride. Highly recommend this road. Continuous long mellow hills and curves with good scenery and minimal traffic. I'd take Oak st from the square straight west till it hit 156, take that through Krum and up to Slidell to join the route. Then on the return I'd depart Muenster south on main st through Era and Bolivar through Sanger and take 2164 back into town. I hit zero freeway time this way. I miss that route. Highly recommended!!

Outstanding ride! Great scenery, and the windmills were really cool. I made the ride in January, and I've got to go back again this summer when everything is green.

Great ride this morning. Really surprised at seeing such beautiful country here in north TX. Small section is rough though ~ first part of 677 is tore up.
Stopped at Doc's Grill for lunch in Muenster. Pretzel bread makes for a great sandwich.

Sept 24, 2020, escape the Covid-19 lockdown. The weather was great and wife said lets go for a ride. This one was close to the DFW area so we took it. 677 from Forestburg up thru St Jo was wonderful views. We only stopped one place for a restroom break but guess what - the rest room was closed due to covid-19. It was a great local trip for the two of us.

This is a great North of the Metroplex ride and though the roads are mainly farm and ranch roads, they are not busy which allows you to enjoy the scenery. Great Road conditions. Would recommend this for anyone wish to get some wind therapy and just to have their knees in the breeze.

I ride this all the time, however I live in Whitesboro and I stay off of 82 and 35. I ride the back roads like 902 through Lake Kiowa and then 372 down to 922. I take 922 all the way out through ERA and to Forestburg, then go North to Saint Jo. Riding it this direction is best because when you drop off of Gordon Mountain just north of St. Jo the whole valley is visible and you go down the hill. Beautiful! Come back down 373 and keep going south through Muenster back to 922 go east back to Valley View.

Beautiful spring day added to the joy - also crossed into Oklahoma on 677 - lunch in Muenster is a must (Doc's for Steaks or Burgers and Drinks - Sunday option, or Rohmer's for German/Country cooking - Rico's for Tex-Mex).

This was my first ride, and I thought it was great. I had no idea the hill country was as scenic as it was. It reminds me of central Kentucky, where I grew up. I've only been riding about a month, but this was achievable at the speeds we were going. Rode it on 8/16/2020 in the morning, and there was very little traffic. Saw some other riders. The highlight for me was riding super close to the windmills! I have a 2019 CB300R, which handled everything fine, even the 75mph speed limit on 82 back towards I-35. I had a great first ride, and recommend this drive.

I rode this route on 9-26-2020. I came from 82 into Muenster north on 373 and around into Denton. The northern part of the route (373 and 677 north of 82) were the best part. Nice scenery and decent curves. St.Jo off 677 and 82 was a nice stop. Several other motorcyclist were hanging out at the square and provided good fellowship. I wouldn't go to far out of my way to take this route but if you are in the area it is worth the time. I rode up to the WindStar Casino in the morning and hit this route on my way home. Enjoy and ride safe.

It is okay per Texas roads I guess. No comparison to CA, CO, TN, SC or NC motorcycle roads. Also it seems like it is either too hot or too cold to enjoy any ride in TX.

Very enjoyable ride. Great hill top views of Texas farm and ranch land. Good small town stops. Had lunch in St Jo, great chicken fired steak. Plenty of curves, up and downs. Easy one day ride. I adjusted the route some to avoid the interstate.

What a great time. 75 degrees and partly cloudy led me through many small towns, windmill farms, great scenery, some curvy and hilly roads. Pretty much everything you could ask for on a day off of work. Stopped in tiny Saint Jo for lunch and had a great burger at the Lazy Heart.

Great ride with lots of nice views. Not a ton of amenities but you're not too far off the beaten path. Instead of taking I-35 south to return, I took the back roads through Krum. Make sure you stop and eat in Muenster for some German food.

Rode up this weekend for Germanfest in Muenster. Scenery was nice with farm land and some small hills but overall I kept waiting for something to change but it didn't. I know we're all different in how we judge roads and twisty roads at that.

Road quality was good and not a lot of traffic so that was nice but as far as turns and spots to really lean and get over on my bike were slim to none.

I'm glad I went though and had a good time at Germanfest and then continued the ride out to Nocona and for some reason ended up Scotland just to say I've been to Scotland lol

This is really a great ride with very little traffic. Going through Muenster, you'll love the ride down HWY 373 seeing the 100s of GIANT Wind Turbins. Great food stops are : Docs Bar and Grill on Main Street / HWY 373 in Muenster, Lazy Heart Grill in St Jo, TX. TOp Off with Gas in Muenster. Also can add to the route the Horton Car Museum in Nocona, TX if you want to head down HWY 82 a bit farther. Last time I went it was about $10 per person and worth it....plus its a great walking around stop before the ride back toward Denton.

Great ride. Just went out this morning and really enjoyed. Beautiful scenery and fun roads, especially north of Forestburg. I deviated and didn't take 82 from Muenster, but instead stayed on 373 south, then east on 922 to Era. In Era, I took 51 south back down to 455 and then headed east on 455 back the way the route started. I live in the Grapevine area, so I went up 377 to get to the beginning of the route. Overall, one of the best rides I've taken in North Texas.

Since I am local I didn't do this ride completely as is given. I picked it up in Slidell coming up through Grapevine, Ponder, and Krum so I'm not sure of the scenery coming out of Denton and Sanger. However, IMHO, the scenery doesn't start to get nice until past Forestburg and is good until you get to Muenster, where we stopped at Rohmer's for lunch. Good food and nice folks BTW.

It was a very windy day today and we got buffeted around a bit, especially when back on the interstate at 75mph.

I liked the North Texas Sweeper Heaven ride better that I did just last week.

Not a bad ride. I went the reverse direction to get the highway riding over first so I could enjoy the rest of the ride. There were a couple of places where road construction had it down to one lane and had to wait for a while, but other than that, it was a nice ride. Twisty roads, gentle hills, and practically no one on the road.

This was a great ride. Beautiful scenery, especially north of 82. Would recommend stopping in Sanger at Big Momma's Catfish and Pies for a bite to eat. They are open for dinner Tuesday-Saturday and Lunch & Dinner on Sunday. You will get plenty of great food at a great price and unmatched hospitality. They are at 303 Bolivar in downtown Sanger. Also watch for the quirky metalwork/art and lady bug Volkswagens on 677 south of St.Jo. Very interesting.

I would give this route a 4 but 677 is all torn up now. There are sections that have no pavement packed dirt and gravel or very little pavement. Some area are in turns. The rest of the ride is great just find another way to get to the square on St. Joes. The ride from St. Joes to Muenster is very good. You can also heat towards Nocona as they are really trying to build that up. There is an excellent car museum to stop by in Nocona (Hortons) especially you like Corvettes. They are adding cars to it all the time. Also on the way to Nocona you can take a short break and hang aroudn Lake Nocona for a little while.

This is a great ride. I ride the northern section few times a week since I live in Saint Jo. I would suggest checking in on the winery on FM 677 north of Saint Jo and the open air restaurant close by. Also the best food in Muenster is Doc's Bar and Grill at the corner of FM 373 and Hwy 82.

Summer 2010 UPDATE from the writer: The last year or so the road conditions around Forestburg and up towards Saint Jo have been hit and miss. With the Barnett Shale development, truck traffic has been heavy. The roads are always being worked on, you just don't know what you'll get - be careful. However, the roads north of Munester and Saint Jo are still sweet!

This was a fantastic ride and I really enjoyed the scenery in particular. The only complaint I had was the abrupt ending and the rather boring ride back home on Interstate 35. I plan to try this one again in a few weeks and take a different set of farm roads back on the return. Otherwise, great route!

Really nice scenery. Lots of farm land. Some rolling hills and Sweeping turns. Not many twistys but some s-curves made the ride more fun. Riding through the Windmill farm was pretty cool. Stopped in at Docs bar and grill in Muenster for some food and a couple of cold beverages. Neat little town. Recommend the ride for sure if you’re in the area. We started in Melissa and took 455 west toward Sanger where we picked up this trail. Really pretty country!
