I took this ride on Sunday September 21, 2008. Awesome ride, perfect weather, worth the time for sure. You have got to stop at Pinnacle Overlook and the scenic overlook at Powell Mountain. Thanks for posting this, I never would have found it on my own!

This was not that great of a ride for us. There traffic was a bit heavy and the roads weren't inspiring. Neither was the scenery. It's not bad, but there are so many better roads in the area.

Great mountain ride with good roads and much to see. I will be returning to this area too much for a single trip to take it all in. Most of the roads were 4 lanes.

Pinnacle Peak in Cumberland Gap is awesome motorcycle road, but our smaller bike would have had issues with the switchbacks and climbs. Going into the tunnel into Tennessee was still pretty much a four-lane divided highway with sweeping curves, as is US 11W. Still lovely mountains and scenery. We didn't take the northern branch to Gate City, so perhaps more adventurous on that side.
