Just did this motorcycle ride a few weeks ago and wow - what a great ride! Scenery description above doesn't do it justice. Rick and I have never been to such an interestingly beautiful place in the US. Lots of amazing formations to drive through but I was amazed at how soft the surface was (some sort of clay when I thought these were rock formations). What surprised us too was how much pretty prairie land sits beneath these strange formations. Don't miss it if you are in the area!!!

Rode this entire route 8/21and the sights are amazing. I returned to the Badlands to experience the sunset and it was the best.

Road this route in reverse of the authors instructions. Will ride it the other way when I go back. While you are in this area you need to take 240 to the north and cross over I90 and stop at the Minuteman Missile Museum. At the general store just south of I90 you can get a buffalo hot dog. all of these things combined make for one hell of a great day!

Badlands is like nowhere I've ever been. Fascinating place.

We rode this in September 2014. Weather was great and had a nice relaxing ride through the badlands. Lots of places to pull off to get pictures. Watch out for wildlife, as some of the animals graze right along the roadway.

The traffic was minimal in June '14 when I went through. This is one of my favorite rides in the US. The barren austere scenery is just amazing. There were some wild sheep munching on the sparse grass on one of the overlooks. Where they get enough to eat really makes me wonder.

The portion along 240 has the best views with so many places where you can stop and get an up close look at some unusual earth formations right next to the road.

Fabulous ride.

Rode all but 377 section from Badlands Visitors Center to Interior, but not at the same time. You get to see two different perspectives of the Badlands. If you do this loop I’d go on up the Door Trail Head parking area, turn around and head for Interior. Badlands Loop is awesome! Be sure to check out Wall Drug.
